RUTH LOREEN SARAHS
(nee KNOWLES)

It is with deepest sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Ruth Loreen Sarahs, on Sunday, January 6, 2019, with family members by her side. Ruth was born in Souris, MB on October 15, 1922.
Mom was predeceased by parents, Lavina and Robert, and siblings, Eldred, Fred, Jack, Eleata Killberry and Irene Downey.
Ruth moved to Winnipeg at a young age where she later met our father Percy at the Winnipeg Roller Rink. They were married on June 27, 1942. They spent the majority of their lives in Winnipeg except for five years in Ottawa when Percy was transferred with the Royal Canadian Armed Forces.
Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children, Rick (Carol), David (Maureen), Dennis (Janice), Kathy Richard (Edward) and Ken (Moira), eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and long time, very special friend Kathleen (Kay) Eastwood.
Mom was a homemaker and loved looking after and raising her children. She enjoyed following and supporting all of her children and grandchildren in their various activities.
Mom and Dad loved going for long walks, camping, bowling, travelling, bus tours and attending the horse races. Mom also loved knitting and listening to music. She even continued to knit and take part in many other activities after her vision loss. Mom was also a proud member of the Canadian Royal Purple and the Red Hat Society.
Special thanks to the staff of Sturgeon Creek I Retirement residence for the extra help over the years with our mom. Also, more recently, special thanks to all of the staff at the West Park Manor Personal Care Home for the wonderful care given to our mom over the past few years and especially during her final months.
Mom, you will always be so very special to all of us. Thank you for your endless support and for everything you always did for us. Things will never be the same without you. Love you forever.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CNIB or a charity of your choice.
