EDITH MAY THOMSEN
(nee MARSHALL)
February 14, 1924 - April 2, 2019

Peacefully, following a brief illness, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Edith. She was born on February 14, 1924 and passed in her 95th year on April 2, 2019.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Tom (Cyndy), Sandra (Jamey) and Laurie (Steve); grandchildren, Kellan (Tori), Chad, Matthew, Jordan and Noelle (Gary); great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Hunter; sisters, Jean and Grace; brother Robert; brother-in-law Ron, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by husband, Gunnar; parents, Thomas and Sadie; son-in-law Dimetro; brothers, Jim, Jack and Tom; in-laws, Vigo and Elise, Cecelia and Wes, Inga and Ed, Greta and Ken, Rita and Carol.
She was a career woman, working at Monarch Lumber, Versatile Manufacturing and Polycast International. She was an active member of her community. She chaired committees at Westridge Community Centre, was President and executive board member of the Century Figure Skating Club for several years and volunteered her time at the Scandinavian Centre, where she was presented with the Volunteer of the Year award. She was a member of TOPS and held various positions in her chapter and also became area captain. She reached her goal weight becoming a KOPS, which she was really proud of and was able to maintain that status for 15 plus years. In her early 80's, mom was showing signs of dementia and in March, 2014 went to reside at the Golden Door Nursing Home. I would like to thank the staff and nurses at Golden Door for her care over the last five years.
If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg.
