FRANCES ROSS

Frances Mary Ross arrived in this world on March 27, 1923 weighing 2lbs 14 oz. Her parents Dugald and Flora Murdoch were proud to have Edmonton's miracle baby. Being so small at birth her first bed was a hatbox. Since then she has been strong and feisty from birth to death at age 96.
She married Jim Ross, the love of her life on May 29, 1948 who predeceased her September 11, 1976. They had two children, Elaine Johnston and Ken Ross. She has six grandchildren, Janna (Duane), Amy (Brandon) and Jared (Rebecca), Steffanie (Carmen), Maureen and Jeremy. Frances also has seven great-grandchildren, Briar, Jade, Jett, Talen, Karis, Arden and Lincoln. Lincoln is just 10 months old and he came to meet his great-grandma for the first time last week. It was love at first sight and there was so much joy. The circle of life was complete, truly beautiful and full of love. She was also predeceased by her brother George Murdoch and sister Iona Pizzey. Frances has many nieces and nephews who she has always cherished. Her wisdom, guidance and strength of character were loved and respected by all. She was the embodiment of grace shown through her actions and spirit.
At an early age her family moved to Cuba for a year before returning to the Emo/Rainy River area and ultimately they grew up in Grandview, Manitoba. She made her choice to serve God at age 14 and this has always been first in her life. She loved and cherished her family and friends and never betrayed a confidence. Frances worked at Eaton's in the wages office for many years and later in Administration at the University of Manitoba. She enjoyed her work and was loyal to both places throughout her career. Her passions were photography, travel and flowers.
This beautiful and elegant woman was an inspiration to many and will be missed by all.
A special, heartfelt thanks goes out to the staff at Simkin Centre who cared for her so kindly.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue with interment to follow.
