ARTHUR (ART) ROBERT ANDERSON
Art was born September 18, 1928 to Signe (Lindell) and Robert Anderson. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Alfred (2013). Art leaves his loving wife of over 61 years, Doris (nee Seymour) and four children: Darlene (Dennis), grandchildren, Kaneesha, Brynn and Briar; Cheryl (Greg), grandchildren, Alex and Adam; Corinne; Arthur (Sherree), grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maxwell and Scarlett; as well siblings, Albert (Carol) and Agnes (Fred); sister-in-law Kay (Alfred); Doris' sister, Maisie (Baldur); a niece, many nephews and cousins.
Art was born in Virden, MB. His family lived near many C.N.R. railway stations during early childhood as his father was a Section Foreman. They eventually settled in Lake Francis in 1936. Art completed his education at Graysfield School and through Correspondence. His first job was on a drag line draining swamps for new railways and highways. Later, he worked as a Carpenter Apprentice, Estimator and Superintendent, for Swanson Construction.
Art met Doris in 1954 at a dance in Eriksdale, Manitoba. Their relationship grew and they married on November 1, 1957. In 1963, Art began work as the Building Supervisor and Estimator with The Hudson's Bay Company in Winnipeg. With his family expanding to four kids, he set sights for a larger home in Headingley in 1978. Art retired from The Bay in 1993.
Art was an accomplished carpenter and loved "old time" music and dancing. He always had time to help others and have a "chin wag". His commitment to family and friends brought many great memories. In retirement years, Art met up with many old friends and developed new friendships.
Memorial service and reception is scheduled for Friday, April 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg.
