BARBARA JOAN DUGUAY
(nee MOREEN)
1939 - 2019
Joan was predeceased by her husband Al, mother and father, Gladys and Archie Moreen, sister Marilyn (Diggy), and sister Carol (Del).
Mom will be sadly missed by her four children: Jeff (Lorraine); Dana (Tony) and granddaughter Jenna; Steven; Mark (Kerry) and grandsons, Justin, Ryan and Jordan. She will also be missed by nephew Michael Millard and son Brandon, the Duncan family, cousin Linda, and brother-in-law Gary Duguay.
Mom was first and foremost a caregiver, she loved to fuss and worry over everyone. If you had a problem it would become hers. Mom truly loved her animals. Whether it be at her house on Crofton Bay or at her cottage at Grand Marais all her animals were taken care of. Mom's yard was always alive with her birds, chipmunks (Charlie), rabbits and even ducks. Dad built many a cage to nurse her animals back to health. Mom loved the cottage spending time with all of her beach friends.
Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers of Jocelyn House for the care given to our mom the past four months. Mom was shy by nature, but quickly felt at home. She enjoyed helping with dishes, re-potting the household plants and watching the deer along the Seine River.
"I go from you gently for it is my time to take the next step in this journey of mine. Don't grieve for me long I've not left you alone for I will be with you in love that we've known. That love is forever and someday when it's time you'll join me again on this journey of mine".
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jocelyn House Hospice or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
As per Joan's wishes, cremation has taken place and a family interment will be held. Please join the family for a celebration of Joan's life on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the Shrine Temple, 1155 Wilkes Avenue from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

What a beautiful passage for such a beautiful lady. I was so saddened when I heard the news. I had such fond memories of Joan when we worked together for Boe's Ltd. We always had such laughs and always would talk about her children with a twinkle in her eye. She was so kind to me when I had a sudden loss in my family, I will never forget how kind and thoughtful she was to me. Such a pretty lady, kind and friendly - very sad... - Posted by: Arlene Gardewine-Gregory (Co-worker and friend) on: May 12, 2019

I’m very sorry for the loss of your mom. Mrs. D just like Mr. D always welcomed “The Boys” into their home and cottage. Those were the best times of my life. I loved doing dishes with Joan and Dana on Sat & Sun while Al was supervising, with one foot on a chair, and a beer. Things have changed over the years, but my love for your family and the love that they gave me will always be remembered.. To all the Duguay children and their families, our sincere condolences. Had a few great visits with Joan at Jocelyn House. She gave me a tour telling me of all the birds she was looking forward to seeing, and all the plants that needed care and she would look after them. She always was a great caregiver all her life. Will miss her. Beverley Bettens and family. - Posted by: Beverley Bettens (Friend) on: Apr 27, 2019

The Duguays were neighbors of ours on Crofton Bay. My best friend in those days was her oldest son Jeff and Mrs Duguay was like a second mom to al of Jeff’s friends. The door was always open and Mrs Duguay was always there for a chat if we wished. I now live in Australia and hadn’t seen Mrs Duguay for almost 30 years until last summer when I was fortunate to spend a few hours with her talking about the old days. These few hours meant so much to me and I think to her as well. Rest In Peace Mrs Duguay. You will be missed but never forgotten. Ken Mighton - Posted by: Ken Mighton (Frieo) on: Apr 27, 2019
