GLORIA GALE ZASITKO
She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Mary and is survived by her sister Margie (Leif); brother Randy (Kristen) and their families.
Gloria was small in size but feisty in spirit with strong convictions regarding right and wrong. She was employed for many years by the Manitoba Teachers Society until the diagnosis of an autoimmune disorder forced her to leave work. She learned to live with her illness and became accustomed to her new lifestyle.
She especially took great pride and had much love for her nieces and nephews and their families. Gloria NEVER forgot a birthday and always sent humourous limericks or poems to them on special days: Greg (Deanna) and family, Holly and family, Justin, and Lauren. Her four-legged "child", Ebony was her best bud, visiting her in the hospital one day prior to her passing.
Gloria possessed a sharp and witty mind whether successfully completing the puzzle challenges in the daily newspaper or offering her opinion on a specific subject. She seldom strayed from her morals and beliefs.
We will miss your compassion, your thoughtfulness and your unique sense of humour.
Special thanks are extended to Robert (CancerCare Manitoba) and Monique (palliative nurse).
Without her caring neighbours and friends, especially Nathalie, Robert and Dawn, Jenny, Joyce, and Brenda, Gloria's journey would have been much more stressful. You are jewels.
You are invited to a casual gathering celebrating Gloria's life, reminiscing and sharing stories, to be held at Heritage Arts Centre, Quarry Park, 166 Main St., Stonewall, MB on Tuesday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m.
Please, no flowers, but should you so desire, donations to Winnipeg Pet Rescue Centre or the Winnipeg Humane Society in Gloria's name would be appreciated.

I am sorry that I am so late in offering my condolences. I was so shocked when I read that Gloria had passed away. I had just spoken to Gloria a few weeks prior to her passing. Gloria and I worked together for many years at the Teachers' Society. We would always share stories about my son and she would share stories about her family and her dogs. We would laugh and cry at some of the stories that we told each other. After I retired Gloria and I still stayed in touch with each other, always sending each other birthday cards. When she went on her leave we would phone each other often and talk on the phone it seemed like hours. We always had something to talk about. I will deeply miss by co-worker and my friend. May God take care of her and keep her close. My sympathy and prayers go out to all of you. - Posted by: Iris Andrusyshyn (Long time friend and worked with her at the Teachers' Society) on: Jun 18, 2019

I worked with Gloria for about four years at the Manitoba Teachers' Society. She was a very hard working employee, and created a welcoming atmosphere, where teachers felt comfortable. We used to say that she was the brains of the department, because she always kept the rest of organized. Gloria knew exactly who she was and what she believed. She loved her dogs, and often sent us animal pictures and cartoons. She was strong, wise, gentle, formidable and loving, and I feel a great loss at her passing. - Posted by: Angela Haig (friend and colleague) on: Jun 06, 2019

Remembering you at this time with sympathy at the loss of your sister. I'm sorry I couldn't attend Gloria's Celebration of Life today but hope that all the memories you've made with her over the years will sustain you at this time. Signed Brian Elke, a good friend of Margie's, now at Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg. - Posted by: Brian Elke (Friend of Margie and Gloria) on: Apr 30, 2019

FAITH is a very personal WHO KNOWS moment. Not all in life needs proof whilst some is simply history translated by men (as imperfect as we all are). There are instincts & feelings you also can't touch. Memories too. All real (or DREAM). DREAM ON & BELIEVE in something other than yourself. Remember to BELIEVE in YOURSELVES (too), or no one else will. TAKE CARE of yourself; self, soul & spirit. The body follows only as a hollow vessel. Gloria rises with Jesus like a PHOENIX out of ashes & memories, with faith & BELIEF in something other than oneself & ones own eyes (BIG or small). 🙏 Cancer SUCKS. What was said would be months was days. R. I. P. gentle ❤️ (& cuz). - Posted by: Ron Ledohowski (Cousin ) on: Apr 28, 2019

Unfortunately I did not personally know Gloria but in past conversations with her mother/my cousin Mary I did know about her. It is so sad that we, as cousins drifted apart as we grew older and had our own children and busy lives! I wish to extend deepest sympathy to Margie, Randy, their families, and Bill & Lovey Glitnak and Helen Torbiak and their families! Thinking of you! - Posted by: NELLIE SMITH (Hnatiuk) (Cousin to Gloria's mother (deceased) Mary Zasitko) on: Apr 28, 2019

Gloria, your Mom was a wonderful neighbor and friend. We had good conversations. It was my privilege to share the Daily Bread devotional booklet for a number of years with your Mom and I always tucked in a copy for you and for your Aunt Helen, your Mom's sister. It was my privilege to do that and I was so pleased that you enjoyed reading these daily devotionals, reminding all of us of God's love for us. My condolences to Margie and the rest of the family. Thank you for your phone call, Margie. It was sad and sudden news. I don't have your address to send a card, so this note is my acknowledgement of your huge loss and for all the family. I will not be able to attend the casual gathering of remembering Gloria. My sympathy and prayers are with you all. Sincerely, with love and sympathy and prayers, Karin Boese - Posted by: Karin Boese (Friend of Gloria's Mom, Mary Zasitko, and thus, also acquaintance of Gloria ) on: Apr 27, 2019
