BARBARA ISABEL MOON
(nee MURRAY)
November 3, 1943 - April 30, 2019
Barbara was born in Russell, Manitoba, November 3, 1943. During her childhood, she lived in Russell, Rossburn, Emerson and Beausejour and finally Winnipeg as her father was a member in the RCMP.
She attended Silver Heights High School and graduated in 1961. She enrolled in the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1964 as a registered nurse. Her nursing career started at Health Sciences Centre and she worked 25 years as a pediatric nurse at the Manitoba Clinic.
Barbara and Allan were married July 31, 1965 and have happily celebrated 53 years of marriage together. They bought Forest Tool and Die Ltd. in 1978 and worked together to make it a thriving business. They retired and sold the successful family business in 2006.
Barbara was a devoted and caring mom to her two children and later three grand-children. Her planning and organizational skills were second to none. Family time and adventures were a treasured part of her life. She was inspirational and encouraged all who knew her to be their best.
Betula Lake is a special place for Barbara with many memories of spending time with family and friends. She always enjoyed board and card games, berry picking, swimming, boating, water skiing and fishing. You could often find her relaxing with a good book and a beverage in hand.
Barbara started travelling later in life, she was always willing to plan and go on almost any adventure. Morocco, Russia and several trips to Italy were her favourite trips. She managed to visit over 63 countries and visit 37 states in the USA, with her favourites being Florida and Hawaii. Her travels allowed her some unique shopping and bargaining opportunities bringing treasures home for her family and friends.
Golf was an important part of her life for over 40 years. Many friendships developed from her time spent at St. Charles Country Club and Breezy Bend. She valued the socialization and comradery that the golf course community provided.
Barbara adored the water and took every opportunity to go swimming whether it was the pool, lake or ocean. She loved cooking and entertaining friends and family, and we all enjoyed her sweets and treats. She was always cutting out new recipes to try and had a crazy number of recipe books to draw inspiration from. The enjoyment of her long time restaurant group provided ongoing influence for her culinary vision.
Barbara had an artistic flare whether it was home décor, or photography with the Winnipeg Camera Club and her award winning photographs. She regularly attended the symphony, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and volunteered for Manitoba Theatre Centre for 35 years.
She is predeceased by Forbes and Isabel Murray. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Allan Moon; her daughter Heather Moon (Marc Mousseau); her son Steven Moon (Kelly Moon); as well as her three grandchildren, Alyssa Moon, Dylan Moon and Katie Moon.
A memorial service will take place Tuesday, May 7 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or Manitoba Heart & Stroke Foundation are appreciated.

Our heartfelt condolences to all of you. We have spent so much time together over the years and have SO many memories! Barb was the consummate hostess, cannot count how many Greycup parties we attended at the Moons, also weddings, anniversaries etc. In the early '80s Barb and I golfed a lot together, and she is the only person I know who could - and did - talk all through her golf swing. The four of us closed down Breezy several times! Barb was a generous hostess to me at countless St. Charles Invitationals, we never won but had a wonderful time while Barb was also usually the official photographer. It is sad we will never hear that laugh again but we will keep it in our hearts. - Posted by: Hanne and Ole Hansen (Long time friends) on: May 04, 2019
