I taught with Hugo at Royal School when I first moved to Winnipeg. He was always a treat to work with even though we were in different wings of the school. My condolences to his family and all who loved him. - Posted by: Carol Carver (fellow teacher) on: Jun 08, 2020

I knew Hugo through the Bison Men's Chorus at the University of Manitoba. Always cheerful and with a ready quip or joke. He used to sing next to me in the baritone section but moved to the bass section. I teased him about not being good enough for us and he came back with, "I'd fallen among baritones by mistake anyway". A good friend and sadly missed. So many memories of Hugo - he and Adeline were a wonderful part of the Bible Study group that mentored us through our babies to young children to teenagers and young adults, and still they welcome us! I remember Hugo as the Eeyore of the Church of the Way choir. Always doubtful of ever learning his part, and after rehearsing a piece for most of the rehearsal, his famous question: "Is this for Sunday?". Hugo, we will dearly miss you. - Posted by: Carol Taves (friend) on: May 14, 2019

Remembering Hugo - an embracing smile, the twinkling eyes paired with his sense of humour, the dedication to volunteer work. All of these set fine examples to emulate. We, on chance meeting at concerts, always enjoyed those little chats. - Posted by: Elfriede and Lothar Schroeder (Friends) on: May 14, 2019
