BARRIE ARTHUR BIRCH

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather, Barrie Arthur Birch on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. Barrie passed away at his home in Beausejour as per his wishes.
Barrie was the only child born of Ernest Arthur and Edna Grace (nee Steemson) in Gladstone, MB on August 26, 1942.
He moved to Thompson as a young man to work for INCO before following his father into a lifelong career at CN railway as a signal man. He loved the railway and continued to collect memorabilia throughout his life. He was a board member of ACL for many years He was quietly charitable with local organizations and was always willing to aid when required. He spent his years of retirement re-purposing discarded material into usable art. He enjoyed attending auction sales and spending time at his cabin on Lee River.
Barrie married Barbara (nee Elias) in 1970. Their time together produced two children, Adam Elias and Heather Grace. He is survived by Adam, Heather, and his three grandsons, Dylan, Kieran and Logan.
A service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Kidney Foundation of Canada in Barrie's name.

He shall be missed.
