ELIZABETH (BETTY) THOMSON

Betty was born in Winnipeg and lived on Ashburn Street most of her life. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate then went on to Business College. She joined the Manitoba Government, holding various positions during her 45 year career, retiring in 1989.
After retirement, she sold the family home and moved to River Heights. She enjoyed spending time at her cottage at Lester Beach, attending Winnipeg Symphony concerts, travelling extensively to Europe, Great Britain, Hawaii and Mexico. She also cruised the Caribbean on more than one occasion. Other favourites were quick trips to the U.S., especially Fargo and Thief River Falls.
During her last years, she moved from her beloved home on Cambridge Street to Sturgeon Creek II Assisted Living, and then to Golden West Centennial Lodge where she passed on December 7, 2018.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Thomson; and two brothers, William and Wilson. She is survived by nephew Graham (Susan) Thomson; nieces, Judy (David) Saxerud and Barbara (Jim) Hogue and their families.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg.
