LAURA M. HANNA
(nee TANGUAY)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Laura Hanna, on March 23, 2019 in Winnipeg.
She is reunited in Heaven with Mel her husband, the love of her life. Laura is also preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Clemence Tanguay; her siblings and their spouses, Beatrice and Dave Froese, Cecile and Tommy Nott, Betty and Phil Ritchot, Aurele and Alice Tanguay; her brothers-in-law, Joseph Dufresne and Laurent Girard; sister-in-law Linda Miller; and Mel's parents, Tophy and Bernice Hanna.
Laura will be sadly missed by her daughter Suzanne and husband Keith Dowdall; her grandchildren, Michael Dowdall and wife Leanne (Laila and Sienna), Jennifer Hope and husband Shannon (Seren and Osian), Jonathan Dowdall and partner Michelle (Memphis). Her great-grandchildren will forever hold their Nana dear to their hearts. She also leaves to mourn son Marcel Godin (Sandra) and family.
She is survived by her loving sister Vye Dufresne; brothers-in-law, Doug Miller and Jerry Hanna (Diane); as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mum was born in Saskatchewan and moved to Manitoba as a child. During her long teaching career she touched many lives...students and fellow teachers alike, from the small one-room school in rural Manitoba to various schools in Winnipeg. She still regularly attended luncheons with a group of retired teachers.
Laura and Mel travelled the world together and after Mel's passing, she would round up one of her friends and be off on another adventure. She loved watching the Jets, the Bombers and curling. She would discuss these and current events with her sister Vye every night over a phone call. She enjoyed meeting with the "coffee girls" once a week and playing bridge with some old friends up until her illness. Laura was a regular member at the Reh-Fit Centre and was dedicated to her daily exercise regime. Over the years Laura volunteered her time with the CWL, Heart & Stroke Association, Siloam Mission, and various committees at her church such as leading a course for engaged couples with her husband Mel.
The family is forever grateful for the outpouring of love, support and concern during Mum's illness either through visits, prayers, or helping family members during the last few weeks of her life.
Funeral service will be held Monday, June 10, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John Brebeuf Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place, Winnipeg. Reception to follow in the church hall where we can share remembrances of Laura. Private family interment will follow the reception.
In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice or the Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba.

"We love you Nana and we will miss you.
Now you can rest."
