Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Worked with Marion at the shop for about a year. Mornings I would come in and see Marion and all I remember is him saying "how you doing kid". RIP and God bless - Posted by: Teddy G (.) on: Sep 16, 2019

  • Dear Mr. and Mrs. Chrol, Karen, Destiny and Jonathon, It has been way too long and these are definitely not the circumstances that I ever thought I would be reaching out to all of you. Firstly, my deepest and heartfelt sympathies for the loss of your son, husband and father. I had not seen Marion for a very, very long time. Over 25 years. My memories of Marion are from when we were in our mid teens, twenties and thirties. I only have good memories. I have lost a very dear friend from my younger years. Marion was what a friend should be. He was always there for you, never judged you and always had your back. When I came to your home Mr. and Mrs. Chrol you treated me like a second son, fed me, laughed with me and told me to stay out of trouble with Marion. We were not always successful on this last point. We spent countless days and evenings cruising Kildonan Park in Marion's great car(s), going to many memorable socials (Marion always in his tight Sergio Valente Jeans), weekends camping in Grand Beach and listening to Supertramp, Kiss and Van Halen together. Marion always took care of me and made sure I made it home safely. My mom always enjoyed having Marion come by and always commented on how polite and well dressed he was. He made my other friends and I look bad (in a good way). We lived and played hard and had one hell of a good time doing it together. I remember the night before the Wedding, Mrs. Chrol came to Marion's house (just down the lane) at 2:00 am and caught us dancing on his couch in a bit of a state of disrepair. Mrs Chrol sent me home and dragged him to their house. The next day, we both had quite a headache and I remember getting the evil eye from Karen because somebody (wonder who?) wrote on the soles of Marion's wedding shoes "help me"! We were in each other's bridal parties and stayed in contact for a few years afterwards and with time started to drift apart as we moved away from Winnipeg. I have no excuses, just regrets for not staying in touch. To Destiny and Jonathon, I only have fond memories of your dad and can only say good things about him. He was a caring and thoughtful human being and not a mean bone in his body. He was a gentleman and a true friend. I respected him. I am many thousands of miles away from Winnipeg now, however rest assured my thoughts and well wishes are with all of you. Please celebrate Marion's life on 11 June and remember all of the good things he did, the fun times you had, the love that he has given you and how the world was a better place with Marion in it. I know I will. Cheers, Gary - Posted by: Gary Dolski (Friend) on: Jun 08, 2019
