Everyone should have a Martha in their life. The McGhie family was so lucky to have Mrs. B in ours. Martha saw all of us kids come into life. How many people can say that they still had a relationship with the person who saw them arrive as a baby and stay closely connected for all ensuing years. Our links are many – 1334 Rosemount – the house my parents Cliff and Joyce McGhie built – and later the Bourgeois bought – the sharing of help – whether it be beginner cooking lessons for my mom, the trading of babysitting services or cottage building (ours and theirs) at the lake, the holidays together - camping trips to St Ambroise and Madge Lake, the travel trips around Canada and then to Palm Springs and the ever eternal friendship that they shared. To me Martha was one of the few people you could always turn to if there was ever a question about cooking, sewing, gardening or income tax. She was well versed on many other subjects and always happy to share her knowledge. I was very privileged to inherit Martha as a personal friend after my mother passed away. She made the connection with my parents viable and alive. We enjoyed long telephone conversations, shopping trips to Tanjay and Fabricland, lunch at a variety of restaurants or just going to the Casino where Martha reigned as the luckiest person ever. In April we went to the McPhillips Casino for our annual birthday lunch. The waitress asked in passing if we were celebrating anything special. We mentioned something about a late birthday get together. At the end of our meal the waitress arranged for a cake and the entire serving staff to come and sing Happy Birthday to us. Martha and I were so surprised we laughed and laughed. You should have seen us. It was so funny. What a great memory. Martha was a good friend and I will miss her. - Posted by: Pamela McGhie (Family Friend) on: Jun 18, 2019

Martha was my godmother and aunt by marriage, more importantly she accepted my children and treated them like her grandchildren as opposed to as their great-aunt. Decades later they still have the Christmas Stockings she made for them. One of her last outings was to my daughter Chantal’s bridal shower. She was on of the people I was most looking forward to having at Chantal’s wedding. She will always occupy a special place in the hearts of myself and my children. Martha now is reunited with my Uncle Herve and her grandson Neal. Much love to you all. Terry - Posted by: Terry Erickson (Nephew Godson ) on: Jun 10, 2019
