NIESKE RAWLICK

On June 15, 2019, at the age of 91 years, Nieske Rawlick (nee Van Veldhuizon) died. Her life was hallmarked by her endless optimism, her joy and her love of family and friends.
After the Second World War, our father, Paul Rawlick (1919-1981) returned home after service to his country, with the hope that his Dutch fiancé, would make the journey to Canada, and that courageous Dutch war bride did just that. On the ships crossing, she spent her time comforting the other "brides to be".
She took pride in her ability to be a superb wife, mother and homemaker... AKA "The Dutch Cleanser". Mom was a perfect gardener, literally used a ruler to space the plants. She would spend hours tending the flowers, they brightened the neigbourhood. Her cats, and all of God's creatures, flourished with her loving care.
Left with an abundance of cherished memories, are her daughter Nieske (Tom), her son Pat (Laverne), her grandchildren, Krista (Jason, Olivia and Nikolas), Kevin (Patti, Ellie, Grace, Blake) and Kimberly (Lee, Alexandra and Meric), and sister Tina.
Mom lived her Christian faith out each day.
Thank you to all of her dear friends and many medical caregivers. For the peace and love and superb care, many thanks to the staff of Fred Douglas Lodge.
A private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish, a donation to Fred Douglas Lodge, 1275 Burrows Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2X 0B8.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Nieske was my aunt and she came once a year to Holland for a period of about six weeks. My aunt Coba came too. Most of the evenings during that six weeks Nieske, Coba and my grandmother visited us in Lochem. My father was Nieske's brother. I were such super weeks because we did so many nice things with my aunts. I'll always will remember my aunt as a loving caring and most of all laughing aunt.
