CAMERON (CAM) BROCK
He is survived by his older brother Bill of Cranbrook, B.C. and a younger brother Gary (Noreen) of Winnipeg.
He was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Vi Brock; and sister Beverly of Kamloops.
Cam was born in Winnipeg on May 21, 1940. He always cherished memories of his family and friends growing up on Selkirk Avenue in Winnipeg's North End.
From his early years as a youth, sports played a big part in Cam's life. He excelled in athletics, especially golf and hockey. He always worked hard and trained diligently to achieve success.
Cam played his minor hockey in the North End and junior hockey with the Winnipeg Monarchs and Winnipeg Rangers. He then shared his love and knowledge of the game by coaching youth at Northwood, Orioles and Fort Garry community clubs. As well, he was head coach of Red River College's inter collegiate hockey team. In his later years, Cam enjoyed playing oldtimers hockey, where he formed many close friendships. He was a member of the Winnipeg Oldtimers hockey team that travelled to many memorable tournaments in Canada and the U.S.
Cam had a great love for the game of golf and was a very accomplished player. A longtime member of Rossmere Golf and Country Club, he achieved success there as club champion. He also won a number of city and rural golf tournaments. Always a student of the game, he loved its rich history and tradition. Cam and Jean made a pilgrimage journey to the home of golf in St. Andrews, Scotland, where he played the Old Course. He was also proud of personal correspondence with golf legend Bobby Jones Jr. of Masters fame.
Cam lived in Winnipeg all his life and for the past 40 years in the community of Ft. Garry. He worked for Winnipeg Transit for 17 years and before that in the furniture manufacturing industry.
Respecting Cam's wishes, no service will be held.
For those who may wish to, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

My sincerest condolences to you Jean. I remember when you first moved here and Can invited us over to your house because he had made a birthday cake for me. I was touched and then aware of his love of a prank. The cake had a delicious icing but underneath was some kind of foam. That was our introduction to Cam and his sense of humour. There was another cake that was real which we were able to enjoy after we got over our surprise. My thoughts are with you in your time of sadness. - Posted by: Ianthe Warner (Neighbour on Ruttan Bay) on: Jun 23, 2019

I’ve known Cam since 1950. We played hockey at Tobans Community Club, then Excellsiors, and the Winnipeg Monarchs. Cam had the hardest and most accurate wrist shot in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. I recall when we would hop on the street car and travel to Provencher School in St. Boniface to practice Sunday mornings in the dead of winter. Cam could have made it to the NHL, or become a pro golfer, but that just wasn’t on the table. We spent many Saturdays golfing at Kildonan, where Cam could land his drive on several par 4s. Cam practiced hard and long, and I sensed he really enjoyed it. As with other friends, we didn’t see each other much, but when we did they were quality visits. Rest In Peace my dear friend. I will miss you. Bud Ulrich - Posted by: Bud Ulrich (Close friend) on: Jun 22, 2019

Jean, so sorry to read of the passing of Cam. Often the memories & stories of the "Old Selkirk Gang" are brought up in conversations, and Cam was an active member of the Gang.
