RONALD DOUGLAS SLATE
January 3, 1936 - June 19, 2019
He is missed and loved by his wife Kathleen Blythe; his son Ken and family; as well as a large group of stepchildren; extended family; grandchildren; and
great-grandchildren. He impacted lives gently and compassionately.
He approached life as an opportunity to be of service: his long career in social work; his quiet helping hand with family and friends ("Can do" was an often heard phrase); and in his later retired years - his pleasure in volunteer work at Fort Whyte; as well as being patrons of both the Assiniboine Zoo and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights - this is the person we will miss. Ron had a deep love for animals and nature. This led to a lifelong passion for camping as well as his talent and respect for the art of photography.
Funeral mass will be held at Christ The King Parish, 847 St Mary's Rd., on Wednesday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Interment will follow at a later date.
Flowers gratefully declined. Instead, please honour Ron's memory with a donation to either the Main Street Project or the Bruce Oake Recovery Centre.
They say we are all just
walking home with each other.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family in your loss. Know that he is not gone, only gone ahead to a place of no pain or troubles, where you will eventually reunite with him in Glory. Peace be with you all. - Posted by: Bruce & Eileen Uchanan (Former Nathanaelite) on: Jun 25, 2019
