EDNA GERTRUDE FISHER
(nee MURRAY)
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Darlene and son-in-law Lloyd Stewart, her grandchildren, Michelle (Lyle), Lisa (Dennis) and Murray (Kristin). "Big Grandma" as she was fondly called, will also be missed by her great-grandchildren, Kyle (Kezia), Grace and Aiden, who each held a special place in her heart. She will also be remembered by close family friends, John and Ginny Tost and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edna was predeceased by her husband Bill, sisters, Eileen and Nora.
Edna had a strong work ethic and was previously employed as a teacher's aide, working with children with learning disabilities. Edna developed lasting friendships with several RCMP officers who boarded with her while stationed at the Stonewall Detachment.
Edna loved to visit with family and friends. Her happiest times were when she was surrounded by her family. She recently celebrated her 98th birthday and was thrilled to attend her great-grandson's wedding in January.
Grandma enjoyed being a caregiver and "loved everyone". She was always willing to lend a helping hand. She loved to laugh and tease and she enjoyed crafts, baking and playing card games.
Edna aged gracefully and always ensured her makeup and hair were always perfect.
The family would like to thank, Dr. Pinniger, Dr. Graham, staff at Stonewall Hospital, Stonewall home care, and Rosewood Lodge for all their support and care, as well as family and friends who visited her during her stay at Rosewood Lodge.
Grandma was an important part of all of our lives. She was always there to celebrate with us on holidays and special occasions. She will be sadly missed.
Service and interment to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Darlene, Lloyd and family, I was sorry to hear the news of Edna’s passing. It was an honour to know Edna. I worked with her at the Centennial School in the early '80s, where I learned from her how to work with the special needs children. Edna had a kind and gentle way about her, a great sense of humour and was always positive. I enjoyed my visits with her at Rosewood and I’m glad I visited her for her recent birthday. My condolences to all the family. I know you will miss her dearly. Linda Hall - Posted by: Linda Hall (Friend) on: Jun 26, 2019

Hi Darlene, Lloyd and all the family. Please accept our condolences on the passing of your dear Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Mother-in-Law. Edna filled a missing role for us because of distance from our own families at the time we were starting out. She was parent, caregiver, listener and confidante. We have told so many of our friends of her great qualities over the years and I am sure more than once she was the source of our guidance as parents and grandparents. There is no doubt that she will Rest In Peace as that was how she lived. Take comfort in the blessing you all received from having her for so many years. - Posted by: Tom and Nancy Furlong (Friends) on: Jun 24, 2019

I am sorry to say that I was away for over a month and when I came back dear Edna had passed. When I got back from Nanaimo, B.C. and was visiting My Aunt Del in Rosewood I looked for this very happy and wonderful lady. I will miss her. P.S. I will miss joking around with her. My sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Harris Clinch (Friend) on: Jun 23, 2019
