ROBERTA F. MCCONNELL
She is survived by her daughter Brenda. Winnipeg relatives are niece Roberta (Bob) Davis, nephew George (Susanne) McConnell and their families.
Mum lived the majority of her life in St. Vital, and attended Glenwood School for her early education. She loved school, passing on the value of an education to us while we were growing up. Our family enjoyed many years of relaxation at our cottage at Gull Lake, until Dad's passing
Among Mum's hobbies was reading the Free Press each day, until her final days she was an avid reader of daily events. She also enjoyed years of knitting and quilting, which she has passed on to Brenda. She was an enthusiastic curler from an early age into her later years, first belonging to the St. Vital and then Fort Rouge Ladies' Curling Clubs. She also enjoyed golfing with a ladies' group at the Winnipeg Canoe Club. Mum and Dad were long time football fans at the Winnipeg Stadium, and enjoyed going to Goldeyes games.
Mum was a wonderful role model - her strength of character and independent spirit are fine examples to follow.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Florence, husband Don, daughter Donna, and sister Thelma.
As per Mum's wishes, there will be no service. A private interment of her ashes will take place at a later date.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Thank you to the kind and highly professional staff at Deer Lodge Centre, Lodge 2 East. I am so grateful for their attention and care given to Mum. I miss her dearly.
