KATHLEEN HAYS
1922 2019
She leaves to mourn Joseph, her husband of 72 years; her children, Gerald (Doreen), Judy (John), Kathleen (Anne) and Jim; her granddaughters, Patricia (Ron) and Darla (Brad); and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Jean; son John; daughter-in-law Luella; and granddaughter Suzanne.
Kathleen was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, on February 8, 1922. She worked as a teacher in Halifax before marrying Joe and moving to Winnipeg. Together they lovingly raised a family of six in Transcona where they were active members of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. They spent their retirement years in Charleswood.
Kathleen had an abundant life filled with family and friends. She was very active and she enjoyed long walks with her children at Assiniboine Park and Charleswood Forest. She loved golfing with her husband and her friends at Crescent Drive. Kathleen was very creative as demonstrated by her excellent and artistic knitting, making many beautiful pieces for her family. Dancing was something Kathleen enjoyed. Square dancing and line dancing came easily to her. She was an avid reader and would sometimes have three or four books on the go at the same time. She and Joe would often travel and they fondly talked of their trips to Florida, Hawaii and Europe to name a few.
The family would like to thank the patient and loving staff at Holy Family Nursing Home that cared for Kathleen during her final years.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.

We were very sorry to hear about Kathleen's passing. What I remember of her the most is her great smile. She had a way of making you happier just by smiling your way. I'm sure she will be terribly missed by her husband and family. - Posted by: Tamara Bodi (Friend of the family) on: Jul 09, 2019
