TARCISIO FILIPPELLI
January 1, 1954 - June 27, 2019
Left to cherish his memory are his mother Teresa Filippelli, sister Tonina (Agostino) Fiorentino, and beloved nephews, Anthony and Joseph Fiorentino. Also cherishing his memory are aunts, uncles and cousins in Winnipeg and Italy. He was predeceased by his father Giuseppe Filippelli, and his grandparents, Conte and Filippelli.
When Tarcisio was approximately a year old his parents discovered he was deaf, so at the age of six, the family left Italy to pursue more opportunities in Canada. They arrived in Halifax at Pier 21 in January, 1960, continuing their voyage to Sioux Lookout, Ontario. Tarcisio attended Belleville School for the deaf for eight years, while the family continued to get closer to him by moving to Toronto in 1964, and that is where he fell in love with the Toronto Maple Leafs. In 1968 the family made their final move to Winnipeg where Tarcisio then attended Manitoba School for the Deaf. Upon graduating, he continued on to St. Paul College in Minnesota receiving his diploma in Graphic Arts Design. Returning to Winnipeg he began working at Boeing of Canada where he retired in 2018 after 41 years. After retirement he enjoyed his time going for espresso and Margherita pizza on Corydon Avenue. Throughout his life, he enjoyed meticulously caring for his five-acre property in Charleswood, and cottage in St. Laurent. He travelled to many places, especially his beloved Italy.
The family wishes to thank St. Boniface Palliative Care, also a very special thank you to the nurses and aides at the Grace Hospice, where he peacefully passed away.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue. Rev Father Sam Argenziano, celebrant. Condolences to be offered after mass. There will be a funeral in Mendicino, Italy on August 5, 2019 where he will be put to rest.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Tarcisio's favourite charities, Manitoba School for the Deaf, 242 Stradford St., Winnipeg, MB R2Y 2C9, Rossbrook House, 658 Ross Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 0M1 and Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, 1055 Marginal Rd., Halifax, NS B3H 4P1.

I met “TF” at Manitoba School for the Deaf while travelling with the students from Saskatchewan School for the Deaf and was being a student at Red River Community College. I had known him for some time. I found him very nice yet generous and he had shown his great smile and was very easy to talk with. He will be missed dearly. Rest In Peace. My heartfelt condolences.
