STEVE KICENKO
Steve was predeceased by his loving wife, Ruth, parents, Sam and Margaret Kicenko, brothers, William and wife Bernice, Mike and wife Ann, and sisters, Ann and Bill Hrychyshyn, Mary and Paul Staromansky and Sylvia and Victor Mazar.
Left to mourn Steve's passing is his son David and wife Dianne, daughter Dale and partner Dave Kaatz; grandchildren, Leanne and husband Stephan Foust, Nathan and wife Lisa with great-grandchildren, Mila, Gavin and Sacha, Melissa and husband Blair Wareham and great-grandchildren, Jace and Caden, Heather and husband Davide Masi and great-grandchildren, Arianna and Giulia, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Steve and Ruth took over the family farm in Poplarfield and built it from a mixed farm into a progressive turkey operation picking numerous turkey eggs while still harvesting many acres. Steve always looked forward to springtime when he could start to work the land putting in many hours on the tractor and watching his crops grow. You could easily find Steve helping out his neighbours when they were in need.
Steve's door was always open and welcomed neighbours and friends while sharing good food and conversation. In the winter, they enjoyed curling and getting together with acquaintances. Steve's life was full of family, watching them grow, his children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. He always had enough milk and cookies in the cookie jar for them to snack on.
Celebration of Steve's life will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in the Poplarfield Community Centre. He will be laid to rest in the Poplarfield Community Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the numerous caregivers from the Fisher Branch Home Care, the doctors and staff at Percy E. Moore Hospital and doctors and staff of the Gimli-Johnson Memorial Hospital for their excellent kindness and care of our father, Steve.
