BEVERLEY ANNE MACKELSON
(nee CHAPEL)
Bev was predeceased by her parents, Jessie and Tony Chapel, and sister-in-law Marina Chapel.
Bev is survived by her husband of 50 years, Wayne; her children, Kim, Wayne Jr. (Tarra); and grandchildren, Dylan and Jessie. She is also survived by her brothers, Jim, Don (Diana); sister Cathy (Jeff), and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Bev was born and raised in Traverse Bay, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg at 17. She wore many hats throughout her life, from her first job at Woolco Department Store, to working at Salisbury House, and then Obsco Beauty Supply. She volunteered tirelessly at Princess Margaret Elementary School during the time her children attended. Later, Bev became an employee of River East School Division as an educational assistant for many years. Bev was also a team captain for Block Parents of Canada and also managed two baseball teams and a hockey team of which Wayne was the coach and her children played on. Bev was always involved in many other adventures such as curling, golfing, sewing, knitting, upholstering, gardening, cooking, baking, and travelling.
After 42 years in Winnipeg, Bev and Wayne retired to Albert Beach in 2011. Her family was most important to her and she provided them with all the necessities of life and more. She loved to volunteer and dedicated endless hours whether it be in Winnipeg, Texas, or at Victoria Beach. She was a member of the Victoria Beach Seniors Scene and Victoria Beach Merry Makers. She was always willing to help others and did so until her passing.
Bev's family would like to thank the Victoria Beach First Responders, Dr. J. Lipschitz, (Karen and Liz), Dr. R. Wong (Zoey), Dr. Shariff, Dr. Liu, Dr. Anozi, Dr. R. Lindenschmidt, Dr. H. Demsas, Dr. Prematilake, CancerCare Selkirk, (Debbie, Ashley, Michelle, Amy and Lisa), Radiation Department at HSC, the staff on ward GH3 at HSC, and the staff on the surgical ward at Selkirk Regional Health Centre for their care and compassion.

My deepest condolences on the passing of Bev. I was glad I had a chance to see Bev and give her a hug and to talk to both Wayne and Kim at Selkirk emerg. I truly enjoyed knowing her and have curled against and with her at West K and E St. Paul and the epic bonspiel at Grand Beach. Bev had a knack for making that winning shot where there was no shot. Bev was an incredible person who loved her family and was so proud of them. I am truly blessed to have known Bev. My heart goes out to her family and may happy memories help you through this difficult time. God bless - Posted by: Laurie Frovich (Friend) on: Aug 15, 2019

Wayne and family, it was a pleasure to have known Bev. She was a doer and it was always a fun time to work with Bev and yourself at the annual prime rib dinners at the Senior Scene. Thinking of you all at this time, our thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless, Bea and Don Tymko - Posted by: Bea Tymko (Friend) on: Aug 01, 2019

So sorry to hear of Bev's passing. She was a good spirit and could make anyone smile and feel good about themselves. Growing up, spending time with them at Wanasing, although so long ago, are such fond memories for my family. There will be so many people that miss her, but also so many people that will think about her and her wonderful smile and bubbly personality. Sympathies to the family during this difficult time. Your mom, aunt, cousin and friend, warmed many with her caring ways and giving heart. - Posted by: Susan Reid (Family friend) on: Jul 30, 2019

Wayne we are so sorry for your loss! I remember the time Bev volunteered to fill all the water balloons for the picnic (she said her grandchild would help) she ended up doing it by herself! 130 water balloons! She was a wonderful lady. Our daughter and son-in-law bought your cottage at Wanasing Beach and we are so happy to have them close. Thank you for that. Bev will be missed. - Posted by: Bryan and Cheryl Peters (Wanasing Beach Cottager ) on: Jul 29, 2019

Wayne I am so sorry. You and Bev took the time to visit Trudy when you were both in your own pain. I so love that. I wish there was some way that I could help to ease the pain but I know there isn't. All you can do is take it one day at a time. I lost my husband 24 years ago and I still talk to him on a daily basis, remember she is still with and she always will be. Hold your children and grandbabies tight and always tell them you love them. - Posted by: Nalda Beckett (Monkman) (Friend) on: Jul 25, 2019
