KENNETH CHARLES VINCE
March 22, 1937 - July 29, 2019
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Phyllis; children, Kenny (Evy) and Debbie; grandson Dylan; and stepgrandchildren, Cameron Cannon, Meagan Cancilla and Bryce Cancilla.
Ken is also survived by his sister-in-law Lona Vince; half-brothers, Larry (Karen) and Todd (Charlene); sister-in-law Lorraine Felde (Jim); brothers-in-law, Wally Kolench (Ann), Edward Kolenich and Eugene Kolench. Numerous nieces, nephews, various family members and friends gave Ken lifelong memories he thoroughly enjoyed.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Lillian and Bill Vince; his stepmother Helen Vince; his brother Wayne (Lona); and half-sister Darlene Kalenchuk (Earl).
Coincidently, Ken passed away at the same hospital where he was born, the St. Boniface Hospital.
When Lillian passed away she left two young boys, Ken and Wayne, to mourn her passing with their dad Bill. Bill remarried Helen having three children of their own where Ken had a very active role in helping his parents run the family household. Ken attended Miles Macdonell Collegiate, participated in cadets and played numerous sports including baseball, hockey and curling.
Ken's career at the CNR in Transcona started at the age of 18 and was already working when he met Phyllis. Ken and Phyllis dated for seven years before joining in marriage for the next 53 wonderful years. Kenny and Debbie received their parents' unconditional love that was a reflection of Ken's loyalty and devotion to family. The pure enjoyment on Ken's face in the presence of his grandchildren was genuine; G-Pa's pride for Dylan equaled that of his children. Evy, Cameron, Meagan and Bryce were the last additions to the family who were also able to bring absolute joy to Ken who was completely amused by their outgoing personalities and sense of humour.
After his 40-year career at CNR, Ken continued employment with the Commissioner of Manitoba for 12 years, his final assignment was working security at Red River College.
Ken's courage and devotion to his family were on display for the final times during his last few weeks at St. Boniface Hospital where the ICU staff provided Ken and his family the best comfort and care possible until his passing.
Rest in peace my soulmate and best friend,
walk slowly, wait for me. Phyllis

Our deepest condolences for the loss of Ken. I give our prayers and gratitude for the many blessings of memories. Richard is grateful for the get together in May and so honoured for his friendship with Ken & Phyllis. He had said “Ken had a heart of gold and considered himself lucky to be friends for many years."
