FRANCES TAYLOR
(nee KIZUIK)
1926 - 2019

On Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Tudor House Selkirk, Frances Taylor, aged 93 years, of Selkirk, MB, formerly of Petersfield and Netley, MB, passed away.
Survived by her sister Mildred Kreamer; brother Gordon (Barb) Kizuik; sisters-in-law, Muriel Kizuik, Thelma Wawryk; Irene, Rita and Liz Taylor; son Larry (Sharon), daughter Norlene (Ed) MacLeod; grandchildren, Shelly, Kevin, Kristin and Russell; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Mackenzie, Mason, Kaylee and Kevin; many nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her parents, Nick and Vicky Kizuik; brothers, Tom, George (Lil) and Bill (Norma) Kizuik; father and mother-in-law Jack and Winnifred Taylor; brothers-in-law, Lorne Kreamer, Peter Wawryk, Tim, Harold and Bill Taylor; and sister-in-law Doris (Dave) Veitch.
Frances was born in Winnipeg, a second daughter for Nick and Victoria Kizuik. Her sister Mildred and four younger brothers, Tom, George, Bill and Gordon, lived with their parents on a small mixed farm in St. Andrews, Manitoba, in what is known as "The Bog". Her childhood was spent helping to run the farm; as it was for many rural kids of that era. Farm "chores" were always the priority, and big families made the work that much easier. Although they lived in a school district to the west, they attended Norwood School to the east as it was only four miles away. As was the common transportation mode at the time, horse and buggy or sleigh rides were always enjoyed. One of her fond memories was riding a sleigh to school dances at Norwood. The Kizuiks move to their second farm in Netley, Manitoba in 1945.
Soon after the war years she met a war veteran, Roy Taylor. They married in 1948 and settled on a farm between Netley and Petersfield. While raising a family of two children, they helped manage the mixed farming operation of the Taylor farms with Roys brothers, Tim, Bill and Harold. In early 1960s they decided to get into a full-time dairy operation.
Frances loved attending to her garden, sewing and homemaking but always had time for family affairs and community activities. She always made the Taylor household a welcome place for friends and family. When farming was done by the early 1980s they went into semi-retirement, eventually moving to the Knights Centre in Selkirk in 2010. Frances and Roy made a new life of friends there, enjoying the many activities that went along with senior living. Frances moved to Tudor House in 2016 where she kept the staff there entertained with her humour and wit.
Keeping with Frances' wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held. Honorary pallbearers will be Frances' nephews, Ivan, Wade, Dale, Perry, Brian, Brent, Brad, Mike, Jeff and Derek.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frances' memory to St. Georges Wakefield Church, P.O. Box 219, Clandeboye, MB R0C 0P0; or the Petersfield Curling Club, P.O. Box 455, Petersfield, MB R0C 2L0.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Tudor House staff for their care and support of Frances.
