Affectionately known as "Pudge", Marjorie passed away in her sleep at home, the morning of July 17, 2019.
Born January 9, 1945 in Kenora, Ontario, Marjorie was the only girl in her family having five brothers.
Leaving to mourn her loss is her loving husband of almost 52 years, Ross, daughter Dana (Enzo), big brothers, Fred (Linda), John (Andrea) and baby brother Jim (Janet). The four loves of her life are her grandchildren, Macormick (Michaela), Maguire, Grace and Eliseo, who lovingly called her Nannie. Also survived by great-grandchildren, Harlynn and Huxsyn, sister-in-law Irene (Murray), nephew Derek, niece Dana (Peter), nephew Darryl, nephew David (Erin), niece Karen, several grandnieces and grandnephews, her dear friends, Marilyn Fitzjohn, Jeff and Lynn Kendel, and Frank and T.C. Robinson with all "The Cheeks". Several others and her Great-West Life family.
Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, Dr. Frederick Boyd and Marjorie Boyd, older brothers, Gerry (Myrna), Edward (B.J.) affectionately known as Teddy, mother-in-law Irene Holt and father-in-law Reg Holt.
Marjorie's family moved from Kenora when she was five years old. She attended Queenston, Robert H. Smith and River Heights schools, graduating from Kelvin High School with honours. While attending the University of Manitoba, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in administration, graduating in 1966. That same year Marjorie began her 35-year career with Great-West Life, retiring in 2000. Marjorie earned several designations during her time at Great-West Life including: L.O.M.A and her C.H.R.P designation.
Marjorie was introduced to Ross by her roommate Margaret in February, 1967. They were married on August 26, 1967.
Marjorie was an avid reader and loved her books, TV programs, music of any kind and the ocean. She loved to curl, spending more than 20 years at the Granite Curling Club. She enjoyed travel. The family went on several road trips all over North America. Her favourite beach spot was St. Pete Beach in Florida.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba.
A memorial service to celebrate Marjorie's life will take place on Wednesday, August 7, at St. Aidan's Anglican Church, 274 Campbell Street, at 11:00 a.m. Please wear something blue to the service as it was Marjorie's favourite colour.
