  • My most sincere condolences to the family and extended family. I will always remember her loving smile and the joy of her laughter. A loving mother and aunt. Always kind in nature and generous in spirit a sweet and gentle soul. My fondest memories were when Uncle Bill and Aunt Sophie would bring the entire family and rent cottages on Rabbit Lake in Kenora to visit my parents (Pete and Nettie) and my sister (Darlene) and I, and together we celebrated just being together, with the best part of the evening spent chasing and catching "fireflies". Though that was about sixty years ago, the warmth and love of that togetherness has never been forgotten and never will. God Bless you Aunt Sophie. - Posted by: Myron Pestaluky (Nephew) on: Aug 20, 2019

  • We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your wonderful mom, it was always a treat to see her smiling face and call her mama. My dear friend Rita you could not have done more as a daughter than you did, and Uncle Donny always here to support his family. Love you guys and hope all the wonderful memories of the past flood you minds at this time. A life well lived - Posted by: Allen and Corinne Siddle (friends) on: Aug 19, 2019

  • I remember Mrs. Pestaluky growing up at St. Mary's Cathedral, her daughter, Rita and I were friends as kids as well as from many social activities at St. Mary's. Sophie (I got to call her by her first name when I was an adult) was always lots of fun and so easy to talk with, we talked about everything...kids, my Mum and Dad, her Mum, men, life in general, nothing was off limits and Sofie had a great sense of humour and always a beautiful smile. I always enjoyed seeing you at a CWL tea, we'd have our snacks and hang-out. Wow Soph, you lived to be 99 years old that is pretty awesome! We shall meet again someday. Thank you, for bring a part of my life. Love, Theresa - Posted by: Theresa LeMaître (Friend) on: Aug 19, 2019
