RENEE DOROTHY (VIEN) KRAWETZ

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Renee Krawetz, on Friday, August 9, 2019, just shy of her 80th birthday.
Renee was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Bill Krawetz, and her parents, Ernie and Dorothy Vien.
Renee will be missed by her three children, Michelle McTaggart (Keith), Christine Neufeld (Brian) and Curtiss Krawiec, along with her grandchildren, Courtney McTaggart and William Krawiec, her two sisters, Claudette Temple (Gordon) and Yvonne Bunkowsky (Garry), and her many nieces and nephews.
Renee was born and grew up in Winnipeg where she attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and graduated from Gordon Bell High School. She then worked for Manitoba Telephone System where she met her future husband Bill. Renee later decided to stay at home to raise her family and care for the home. Many of her weekends and summers were spent with her husband Bill, along with their family and friends, building and enjoying their summer cottage at Ingolf, Ontario. When Bill retired, their antique hobby became a business and they opened "Old World Antiques" where Renee spent a lot of her time, until they began wintering in Florida. When Bill passed, Renee soon sold the house and moved to The Courts of St. James, where she then vacationed in the Caribbean. Renee moved on to The Westhaven Retirement Residence where she met some great people and was known for her nice outfits, manicured nails and her love for ice cream! Unfortunately Renee's health required extra care and she moved to West Park Manor Personal Care Home. She was only there for a short time, but left a lasting impression with her wit and affection for those she adored.
Mom, little grama, sister, and friend Renee, will be missed by many, but not forgotten.
A memorial service for her will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, on September 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • So very sorry to hear of your loss. She was a special lady and will be missed. Hold her memory close and remember the special times. - Posted by: Dianne & Lyle Schmidt (Friends (Yvonne)) on: Aug 21, 2019

  • Auntie Reneé has a special place in my heart. Her warmth and especially her humour continue to be present for me. She was a compassionate woman, a loyal partner, and loving parent. As a child, I thought Bill and Reneé were the coolest, most elegant and adventurous people I knew. They drove a convertible and a speedboat. They wore modern stylish clothes and always had the latest technology, food, and wine. They were unafraid, curious, and forthright. Auntie Reneé was a beam of light in an often too dark world. - Posted by: Linda Temple (Niece ) on: Aug 18, 2019

  • Christine and Brian, sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family - Posted by: Sheila Webb (Friend of Christine's) on: Aug 17, 2019

  • My deepest sympathy to Renee's family and dear friends. Whenever I was with Renee it always meant fun and laughter. She will be missed by many. Sleep peacefully, dear lady. - Posted by: Doreen Buss (Friend) on: Aug 17, 2019
