ROLAND DUPASQUIER
peacefully, with his family by his side on
August 31, 2019, at Red River Place, Selkirk, MB.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 60 years Alice, his children, Lillian (Derrick), Robert (Shelley) and Janet (Damon) and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roland was born in St. Claude, MB on
January 31, 1935, a twin, and the youngest of nine children. Roland joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1955 in the Queens Own
Rifles and retired with a rank of Lance
Corporal in 1958. He then started his career working for Acklands Limited until his
retirement in 2000.
Roland married Alice Cote in 1958 and were blessed with three children. As a family they enjoyed camping and fishing and many family gatherings. He also enjoyed spending holidays with his grandchildren at Lake
Manitoba Narrows. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When Roland and Alice sold their trailer at The Narrows, he found a new interest in wood carving.
He was a parishioner of Notre Dame Church and an active volunteer in the
community. He was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 42 and an
Honorary Life Member with the Knights of Columbus No. 6150. Following his retirement, he became a member of the Selkirk Catfish Carvers.
He will be missed and fondly remembered by many relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Home Care Services and Red River Place for their care and compassion.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass will be
celebrated on Friday September 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St., Selkirk, MB with
Father Stan Gacek officiating. Family
interment will be held at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice in his memory.
