NORMA SCHELL
October 9, 1929 - August 26, 2019
Norma was born and grew up in Winnipeg. She graduated from Gordon Bell High School, and upon completion of Grade 12, her mother, grandmother and grandfather decided to move to Edinburgh, Scotland and of course, Norma went with them.
The family stayed in Edinburgh for eight years. After the death of her grandfather, Norma, her mother and her grandmother returned to Winnipeg. Norma secured a position working for a dentist as an assistant hygienist. This is where she met and married the love of her life, Ernst.
A year into their marriage, Norma gave birth to a daughter Gerda, and two years later, a son Paul. Along with being a stay-at-home mom, Norma did volunteer work for 25 years with the Children's Hospital Chowan Guild and 25 years with the Children's Hospital Book Market.
Norma was an extraordinary human being with many special gifts. Her smile could light up a room and her presence was always welcomed by the people who knew and loved her. Norma was a gracious hostess and a marvelous cook and baker. Had our father married someone other than Norma, he would not have been as successful.
"Behind every great man there stands
by his side a great woman."
At this time, Gerda, Paul and Melissa would like to thank the management and staff of Brightwater Senior Living for the excellent care our mother received. We very much appreciate the kindness and support during this very difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, please donate on behalf of Norma, to the Winnipeg Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
