HAZEL ALICE BENSON
June 9, 1926 - September 14, 2019
She was predeceased by her husband Arthur and her son Douglas. Hazel will be greatly missed by her sons, Ray (Marlene), Gary, daughter Kim Howes (David), and her daughters-in-law, Laura and Pat.
Hazel devoted her time to her grandchildren, Lisa (Gord), Steven (Paula), Cody, Eric, Lindsay (Will), Kelsey, Tommy, Jeff (Jenn), Michael (Danica), and her great-grandchildren, Josh, Danika, Iris, Alex, Braden, Kieran, Connor and Larkyn. Also mourning her loss is her sister and best friend Mabel Senchuk and many friends and relatives.
She spent countless hours watching her grandchildren in all their sporting activities and was their biggest cheerleader. She enjoyed watching the Toronto Raptors, curling, gardening, reading and knitting. During her last few years she took pleasure in knitting for charity. Hazel was employed for many years at Sears and the Fort Rouge Curling Club.
She had a great sense of humour and touched the lives of many people. When surrounded by family, Mom said "Don't be sad I have had a great life and a wonderful family."
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital 5th Floor for the care they provided.
In keeping with mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.

Hazel's son Ray is our brother-in-law and friend. We have known Hazel for many years and always enjoyed her company. What a great lady with a wonderful sense of humour. May she rest in peace.
