It is with deep sorrow I announce the passing of my beloved husband, Bruce Pihulak on September 7, 2019 at the age of 65.
Bruce will be sadly missed by his wife of 21 years, Louise Fortier, and is survived by his brothers, Don Pihulak (Liz) of Armstrong, Jim Pihulak of Calgary, and extended family.
Bruce grew up in Lockport and later moved with his family to Lac du Bonnet, MB in 1964. He worked as a power engineer at Whiteshell Labs for over 32 years until he retired in 2007. Bruce was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting through the years. He was also a talented craftsman and skilled in the art of making snowshoes. Bruce learned how to play the guitar and his love of music continued to be an important part of his life.
Bruce was also a loving husband who enjoyed spending time together as a couple. He was a happy man with a keen sense of humour and had a number of lifelong friends in the community.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Bruce on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Epilepsy and Seizure Association of Manitoba, a charity he supported.

  • So very shocked and saddened by our friend Bruce's sudden passing. He was one of those exceptionally kind and witty people who could always find humour in any situation. I don't think I ever heard him say anything negative about anyone- a true gentleman. He was godfather to my son Clayton, and best friend for so many years to Clay's dad, Nick. We were all so lucky to have him in our lives. It was easy to see that Louise and Bruce were true best friends and partners in life. I've enjoyed so much the renewing of friendship with them in recent years, visiting at neighbourhood jam sessions and catching up. Fare well Bruce, but perhaps not goodbye xoxo Louise, we hope to continue to see you at those jam sessions. Sending love and support, call or drop by any time. • I was always fondly remember Bruce from my high school days in Lac du Bonnet. It was always such a delight conversing with Bruce and having the pleasure of his company whether it be in class or otherwise. Though I had not seen Bruce since Grade 12, for the most part, he had not changed over the years as he still had that adorable tilt of the head and the tender and loving signature smile, both of which I cherish the memory of. Please accept my sincere condolences. RIP Bruce. - Posted by: Shirley Beznoski (Friend) on: Sep 29, 2019
