KENNETH MURRAY DODDS
Born at Winnipeg General Hospital on August 3, 1937, son of William David Dodds and Brenda Gwendoline Dodds (nee Farmer). He is survived by his sister Gwenn Milton of Northwood, New Hampshire; his daughter Teresa Garside and beloved granddaughter, Kelly Rose of Toronto; and his daughter Brenda Drall and husband Les of Grand Marais.
Living in Yorkton, Regina, and Winnipeg, he enjoyed a dynamic and productive career of almost 50 years in public affairs, broadcasting, advertising, marketing, public relations, and a parallel career in community service. Ken had his own radio show at CJGX in Yorkton. He was a founding member, Senator and Life Member of Junior Chamber International bringing his chapter the Outstanding Chapter of the World Award as President. He was an Honorary Past Exalted Member of the Yorkton Elks Lodge, and a founder, past President, Honorary Life Member and Honorary Director of the Manitoba Hospice Foundation, now Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba. He enjoyed mentoring young adults through his involvement with the Anglican Church. He was a lifelong learner, having taken or taught over 30 courses during his adult years. He managed various political campaigns in Western Canada, including that of Pierre Elliot Trudeau.
Kenneth was a devoted father and grandfather, with a sparkle in his eye for his granddaughter Kelly Rose. He was a gentleman and will be remembered for his humour, style and intelligence. He cultivated lifelong friendships and outlived his closest friends, many of whom belonged to "The Club" at The Charleswood Hotel. An important source of happiness and satisfaction was his baptism and confirmation at St. Aidan's Anglican Church in 1993 and involvement with two local House Churches. He profoundly appreciated the worship and fellowship he found in the spiritual community.
His family would like to acknowledge all the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their specialized care, and his professional companion, Noelle Tayfel, who brought joy to his life. He appreciated the visits of Margaret Friesen and Laird Jones of St. Aidan's Pastoral Care. Most of all, Ken was profoundly grateful for the love, support and friendship offered by his in-laws, Maria and Jack Mushinski.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life followed by interment will be held on Tuesday, October 1 at 2:00 p.m., at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Condolences to Ken's family and Sorrow upon hearing of his passing. Worked with Ken for a few years in the 60's at Radio CJGX Yorkton before we both moved on to larger Broadcast markets. Ken was a genuine professional who left on air work to become responsible for National Sales Promotion working with National Advertisers. Ken was a talented gentleman who attracted major advertisers such as Ford, General Motors, Kelloggs & more to a small market Radio Station which was unheard of. Although we've been out of touch for many years he will be remembered for his talent & freindly personality. - Posted by: Tony Bast (Friend) on: Nov 04, 2019

A photo of Ken kissing daughter Brenda, a eulogy for my mom, a supporter for her bereaved husband, best man at their wedding: good times or not so good Ken was there, a gentleman yes. - Posted by: Dianne Rose (Friend) on: Oct 18, 2019

Dear Brenda and Theresa The daughters of Mike and Shirley Dereniski send their sincere condolences. Our Dad and your Dad talked often long distance, more often when they no longer were very mobile. I always got a chuckle listening to one of their conversations. Ken has been heavy on my mind...now I know why 😞. Thinking of you girls. I will forever miss you Dad, we went through so much, both good and not so good, but through it all we loved one another and that will give me some measure of comfort as I go through the rest of my journey. I am truly thankful to Teresa and Mernie and Uncle Jack for always being there for you. And to the staff of Riverview I am truly grateful for all you did to help my father. Thank you 🙏 - Posted by: Brenda Drall (Daughter ) on: Sep 29, 2019
