DONALD (DON) JAMES SOUTTER
May 26, 1940 - September 29, 2019
He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Anne Soutter, and brother Norman. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Donna, of 42 years; sons, Bradley (Rose-Marie), Bryan (Melissa); grandson Logan; and grand-daughter Brooklyn. Also left behind are brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chuck and Jane LaBossiere; nephews, Trevor LaBossiere (Jaclyn), Grant LaBossiere (Charlotte) and Andrew and Bruce Soutter.
Don retired from the Winnipeg School Division in 1998 after 35 years of service. Fifty years later students still met up with him, plus many teachers still kept in touch. This speaks to the incredible person he was, not only as an educator, superior friend, loving husband, father, grandfather and all-around family man. Truly the "best of the best".
Besides his family, Don's joy was the cottage of 53 years at West Hawk Lake. He could be caught puttering around. His motto being "do a little something each day to make it a better place" and he most certainly did.
We would like to thank Dr. P. Czaykowski and nurse Denise at CancerCare - Health Sciences Centre, the wonderful home Palliative Care nurses, the staff at Riverview Health Care Centre and Dr. Cummings for his compassion, caring and home visits.
As per Don's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held and a private family function will be held.
In lieu of flowers, contribution can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Riverview Medical Centre or a charity of your choice.

My condolences to Donna and family. I will always remember the kind, caring and understanding person Don was at Lord Selkirk School. He was one of the administrators I had the utmost respect for. I remember when it was his first day and mine at LSS. He was in the office sitting in the waiting area. He came and sat beside me and asked if this was my first day, I said yes. Don said mine too, let’s go and have a great year! Outside we went to greet all the students! Don you will be missed! May the angels open the gates and welcome you in! - Posted by: Lorraine Kehler (Friend, former staff ) on: Oct 05, 2019
