HAROLD VICTOR ECCLES
1929 - 2019
Harold was predeceased by his loving wife Evelyn in 2006 and three brothers, Kenneth, George and James. Left to mourn and cherish his memory are his daughter Connie Sarvis (David); three grandchildren, Matthew, MacKenzie and Timothy; son Joel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Harold spent his life working for the Manitoba Highways Department as a civil engineer. He and Mom spent their lives and brought up their children in Carman, Manitoba. After Mom died, Dad started living part-time with his family in Winnipeg.
Harold, or "Mike" as he was called by his family, lived his life for his grandchildren. He never missed a concert, a graduation, a dance performance or fencing match. He travelled to Hawaii, Ireland twice, England, France, the Caribbean, Wisconsin Dells and Ottawa, all with his grandchildren in tow. His love for dogs was immense, always taking great pleasure in our three dogs, particularly his bulldog Sophie.
The family wishes to thank nurses Kelsea, Olivia, Val, Kate and Pia, as well as doctors George and Joshua for their exceptional kindness.
A service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a no-kill shelter in his name.

I was sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I lived down the street from him. I always enjoyed our chats. I also worked with your mom at the Carman Legion. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. - Posted by: Karen Maxwell (Friend /neighbor) on: Oct 25, 2019

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Harold Eccles. I worked under him in the summer of 1958 when I was 17 years old. He was a terrific man. The crew consisted of Don Brehaut (later replaced by Jim Wiebe), the late Lawrence (Tubby) Turnbull, Roper Galloway and Johnny McLeod (brother of Harold's associate Angus McLeod). We helped build Hwy 23 from Kane to Jordan and stayed in Roland. We had a lot of fun. I've always remembered Harold with great fondness. - Posted by: Francis Trueman (former colleague) on: Oct 14, 2019
