Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I served with WO Findlay in the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. My secondary tasking was as Drum Major in the regimental band of the RWpgRif. Ben played the bass drum. Are other comrade was Sgt Ron Springett the snare drummer. We would play the odd mess dinner and Christmas visitation. My condolences to David and ‘Charlie’ Ben was a friend and comrade and he is missed - Posted by: Michael Nickerson (Military comrade) on: Nov 17, 2024

  • I was so sorry to learn of Ben's passing. I often thought of him, remembering the fun times we all had together working at Monarch Lumber HO. We were lucky to work with a terrific bunch of people who loved to play ping pong! There was a ping pong table in the lunchroom and we had tournaments. We played at lunch and after work with lots of laughs. Ben was so outgoing and fun. I lost touch with most of the crew except one girlfriend when Monarch was bought out. I hope he had a happy life. He deserved that. - Posted by: Rae Poole Reid (long ago co-worker) on: Aug 17, 2020

  • I met Ben when I joined the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in the 1960's. Out at camp Shilo on weekend exercises he lead with gusto providing valuable tips on section tactics to us rookies. By chance we ended up living just down the street from each other in East Kildonan. We helped each other in our home renos and his kids babysat ours when needed. Rest in peace Rifleman Findlay - Posted by: David Robertson (friend and comrade in arms) on: Oct 20, 2019
