PAUL NICHOLAS REIMER
December 18, 1942 - October 15, 2019
Paul was predeceased by his mother Helen Reimer; father Nikolas Reimer; and
step-sister Elvira Jenzen. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 50 years. Donna; daughter Jennifer (Andrew); and son Geoffrey (Jolene); as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was the proud grandfather of Austin (Lewis) and Evan and Charli (Reimer).
Paul and family escaped war torn Europe in the midst of the Second World War after their village in Russia was destroyed in an Allied bombing run. Helen, Paul and Elvira walked over 3.000 kms. through three different countries to make their way to a friendly port where they boarded a boat destined for Canada. When they landed in Canada they made their way to Manitoba and stayed with cousins in Elm Creek. They eventually moved to Winnipeg in the Elmwood area where Paul spent his childhood and high school years.
Shortly out of high school Paul took a job with the Hudson Bay Company in Thompson. When he came back to Winnipeg he began working at McMahon's for 23 years before taking different jobs in the trucking industry. Paul really enjoyed his time at McMahon's where he created friendships that lasted throughout his life
Horses were always part of Paul's life. He met the love of his life, Donna, in 1966 while selling her a horse. They married in 1968 and began their life together. Paul had a wide variety of interests, he was an avid reader, fan of Monty Python, enjoyed all kinds of sports including hockey, NFL, the CFL and the NBA, however, his passion was rodeo. It was through the rodeo where Paul met many of his lifelong friends, where his kindness, patience and sense of humour made him a favourite of both the young and old cowboys working their way through the rodeo circuit. Paul exceled at both calf roping and team roping and was a sought after team roping partner. He won several awards throughout the years and was entered into the Heartland Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2017. Paul was still riding at 75 and his love for horses and rodeo continued until the day he died. Paul will be dearly missed by friends and family spread around the country as his kind and gentle nature garnered genuine respect throughout all aspects of his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Paul at the Stonewall Quarry Park Heritage Arts Center, Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Donna and family, I was saddened to hear about Paul. He was such a good person. I will cherish the times spent with him at Rodeos and Team Roping. He had such a sense of humor but was also a friend when you needed one. My thoughts are with you. Colleen - Posted by: Colleen Pingert (Friend) on: Oct 23, 2019

Geoff, your Dad, Paul, lived an incredible life. Such a blessing that he met your Mom, Donna, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Though we never met your Dad, previous accolades attest to his being a good man and a stalwart friend with a wonderful sense of humour. He must have been all that because you, his son, are all that. Our condolences to you, Jolene, Charli & Evan and all your family. May Paul Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Ron & Christine Davey (Friends) on: Oct 23, 2019

I haven’t seen Paul for almost forty years but still have many fond memories of his incredible wit, often accompanied by a wink and wry smile! In my early days in the flooring industry he was the source of wise council and good advice, always offered with a humorist twist. My condolences to Donna and family. - Posted by: JEFF BRAID (Friend) on: Oct 19, 2019
