DEAN JEFFREY MARTIN
1962 - 2019
Dean was predeceased by his father Frank in 1990; a special aunt in his life Audrey McIntyre in 2018 and his brother-in-law James Giesbrecht in 2019.
He is survived by his mother Yvonne and Richard; brother Darryl (Cheryl) and family; sisters, Cindy (Ted) and family, Cheryl and family and close sister Caren Giesbrecht and her son Chris.
Dean was a dear and gentle soul by nature. Material things in life were of no interest to him. The last six to seven years required a quieter life due to so many health issues. He did enjoy the Blue Bombers, and of course, his ever loving wrestling. He also enjoyed reading and spent many quiet hours with his books. It should be mentioned, that he loved the family dinners and was always last to leave the table. It was always a fun day for him whenever the meals were held. After his school years at the age of 19, he accepted a position at Deer Lodge Centre. There he spent 33 years and then retirement followed. Dean was never happy with retirement and never really accepted it either. The evening staff that he worked with became a close knit group, having worked with them for so many years. It almost became Dean's social life, along with the duties. The past four years Dean suffered so many set backs of every nature. He hardly complained and hoped for the best.
Dean would want us to thank Dr. W. Poon and his assistant Anita at the St. Boniface Cardiac Ward, Concordia Hospital and last the Grace Hospital. Also, his podiatrist Dr. Fiona O'Hara and all his homecare workers. Special thanks to a dear friend, Kathy Olson, RBC Bank Manager, for her help for so many years. She was loyal to Dean right to the end.
Respecting Dean's wishes no service will be held. By his request, cremation and his urn will be placed beside his father, which Dean arranged a long time ago.
In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, please donate in memory of Dean to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
Dean you will be Forever Loved.
Rest in Peace
Mom, Richard, Family and Friends.

Very saddened to hear of Dean's death. I worked in housekeeping at Deer Lodge Centre and would often laugh and joke with Dean about the Bombers and his favorite WWF or WWE wrestler. He was a kind man, with a gentle soul. I will remember him fondly. - Posted by: Lisa ((deer lodge)) on: Oct 23, 2019

I was so sad and shocked to hear about Dean's sudden death. I knew him for a long time working with him in Deer Lodge Centre. Love talking to him. But lost contact with him after I retired. He was just so sweet to chat with. Rest in Peace Dean you deserve it. - Posted by: Donna McDonald (Co-worker) on: Oct 23, 2019

So sorry to hear of Dean's death. He was a lovely, gentle man, and used to tell me often how much he cared for and respected my son, with whom he had worked at Deer Lodge in several years ago. When Christopher died suddenly last year, Dean was a comfort to me. - Posted by: Rene Jamieson (neighbour, moter of the late Christopher Jamieson, Dean's former supervisor at Deer Lodge) on: Oct 23, 2019

We are very saddened to hear off Dean's passing. I first met Dean when I hired him at Deer Lodge and over the many years we established a great relationship. We shared many memories and loved to chat about wrestling and the Bombers. The adage says that the "good go young" and this is certainly the case here. Rest in peace, my friend. - Posted by: Robyn and Debbie Bernhard (Supervisor and Friend) on: Oct 23, 2019

I have known Dean for so many years having gone to school with him and working with him at Deer Lodge. He was a kind and gentle soul, I loved stopping and having a chat with him at work. So sorry to see him go at such a young age. Rest in peace Dean. - Posted by: Shirley McRae (Ness) Slobodian (Friend) on: Oct 23, 2019
