KENNETH BRYCE DRIEDIGER

It is with deep sadness the family of Ken announces his passing at the age of 67.
He was a deeply loving father to his children, Sean (Marley) and Heather (Roddy). He is survived by his parents, George and Dorothy, sister Joanne, brother Tim, and his in-laws, Jim, Rick (Carol), Ron (Elsa) and Rita (Steve); nieces and nephews, and a large extended family. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Ruth, his sister Wendy, and sister-in-law Gloria.
Ken grew up in Drake, Saskatchewan and although he tried to stay a Roughrider fan, the Bombers won him over. He never missed a game. Ken was a good friend to so many, and a kind man to those in need. He will be greatly missed by a wide circle of friends.
The memorial service will be held Friday, November 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road, with Pastor Carol Janke officiating.
Donations in Ken's name may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Heart & Stroke Association of Manitoba.

  • Sean and Heather (& Family) I am sorry to hear of Ken's passing. I spent many a June weekend at Clear Lake with your Father. He was an integral part of ChurchMen's Camp - both as a camper and as a leader with vision and faith.. I was quite young when I first met Ken at Camp - but it only took moments for him to impact my life in a positive and dramatic way. He was a leader, a faithful friend and an integral part of our executive and all the ongoing work we did to keep camp alive for over 50 years! A True Churchman! He is dearly missed by those of us who were fortunate to serve God with Ken in our midst. I know you will miss him terribly. I hope you can take comfort that you are not alone in that. Vaya Con Dios Ken! - Posted by: James Douglas (Friend and Member of Riding Moiuntain Conference of Churchmen's Camp) on: Nov 29, 2019

  • I am Jonathan from Germany. I stayed with Ken for about 3 months in 2016. I was his first exchange student. At first my relationship with Ken I was a little bit reserved but after a while we got along very well and became friends because Ken treated me like a part of his family. We went to many places and had lot of memories together. Especially I remember the many times we went to the trampoline hall where we had a lot of fun. Ken was a very kind and generous person. He had a very good heart and I’m very thankful for the time we spent together. Elli and Herwig (parents): We were happy and grateful that Jona had a good time in Canada with Ken. And because of that we wanted to get to know the person who took such good care of our son. So we invited him to visit us here in Marburg, Germany. He accepted our invitation. Ken arrived in November 2016 and stayed for 3 weeks with us. He’s been an extraordinary pleasing and enjoyable guest. We had many meaningful conversations and we showed him our homeland. One evening we went to a concert in a church nearby to listen to Johannes Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem. It has been an extraordinary evening and we were all very much impressed. It’s a fantastic peace of music by one of the best german composers were he deals with the subject of death by setting to music bible passages.... We went to a soccer game of our favorite team Eintracht Frankfurt, went to traditional hessian restaurants, visited the beautiful Rhine-Region... So we feel that he got in contact with his german ancestry. He still knew some german words although he lived his whole live in the canadian prarie. Although we’ve seen each other only for 3 weeks we became friends and kept contact till now. We are very sad that Ken passed away and feel with you, his canadian relatives and friends. • My name is Alex, I met Ken in September in 2017 and I lived with him for a few months. I am deeply sorry and very sad, I am gonna miss him a lot. He ment a lot to me. Not sure what to say about him. But, I feel Ken as a part of my family. We got along each other since the very beginning. In few months, we shared many things and we built up a very good relationship. We were very close and we had time to know each other very well. With him looking after me, I felt part of Winnipeg, I felt part of his family and friends. We went to so many places together and we had very good conversations over a coffee at his kitchen or at Wendy's (my favorite burger place), he was great! He liked to tease me and he liked to teach me many phrases in Canadian English that I keep in a book. I became his chef in the evening, suppers were fantastic, he always was sure that we had all the ingredients. Go Bombers! Go! we had such a great fun cheering for Bombers at home or at the stadium. However, he had to explain me several times the rules of the game, he was very patient. I remember many things, probably I would need far more space to write them down. I keep many presents that he gave me but probably the experience was the most important one. He was kind, nice, very supportive, he was a very close friend. I still remember when we hugged each other at the airport the day that I was coming back to Europe. I won't forget him, I will tell my children in the future about their Canadian grandpa. Such a great guy full of love to everyone. Me and my family are with you in this difficult moments, no matter the distance. Rest in peace Ken. We love you. Hasta siempre queridisimo Ken. Alex and family. - Posted by: Alex (Good friend. Spanish son. ) on: Oct 30, 2019

  • I worked with Ken for many years at Maxim before he reitred. We used to trash talk and tease each other about football all the time. He was a Riders fan, and I’m a Bombers fan. Aside from football, Ken was always there to help me out at work when I needed something, no questions asked. I had to take a little teasing of course but it was all in fun. Ken was a great guy with a great sense of humour. He will be forever missed. My heart goes out to Ken’s family during this very difficult time. - Posted by: Jackie Kielly (Former co-worker) on: Oct 29, 2019

  • We were saddened to hear of Ken's passing. Moira had worked with Ruth at Great West Life for many years. Because of this we met socially with Ken and Ruth on many occasions, including being invited to dinner at their home. We remember them as great people and we wish to express our sympathy to the family in their time of grief. To the family, hold on to your memories of the good times and to each other. Rest in peace Ken. - Posted by: Aubrey and Moira Settee (friends) on: Oct 29, 2019
