CHRISTINE MARY FILLION
(SMITH)
Christine was born on October 27, 1952 in Winnipeg to Mary (Panchuk) and George Smith. Christine is survived by her son Jason (Kathryn) Nagy and adoring granddaughter Danika of Regina; of Winnipeg, her mother Mary Smith; brother Jim (Joyce) Smith, Jennifer (Skyler and Brendan) and Michael; sister Phyllis (James) Marsch and Colin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her son Sean Nagy; Randy (Rudy) Nagy; father George Smith; and grandparents, George and Jessie Smith, Tina and Michael Panchuk.
During her higher-grade school years, she volunteered as a Candy Striper at the Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg, achieving highest honours for her dedication and exceeding well above the average number of volunteer hours, quickly being promoted to a team captain. After graduating from John Taylor Collegiate in Winnipeg, she entered Red River Collegiate and graduated from the Licensed Practical Nursing Program and directly became employed by the Grace General Hospital on the Medical Care Unit. After a few years, she moved with her family to Regina, with a slight change in her profession to a fulltime stay-at-home mom.
She enjoyed travelling when the opportunities arouse. During her early years she enjoyed two family trips to visit relatives in Scotland; with subsequent vacations throughout Canada, the Bahamas, Hawaii, Las Vegas to see a live Elvis Presley performance, Europe and to visit her longtime pen pal and friend, Marilyn and family in Australia.
Christine is remembered well for the wonderful gifts of knitting, crocheting and needlework, which she shared with family and friends over the years. She was truly talented in this area.
In her kind and gentle way, and with her beaming smile, Christine would always put others before herself. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Christine's community of friends at Mary Helen Herchmer Place in Regina for their support, especially during Christine's time of need for emergent care just prior to her passing, and also with the compassion shared with the family at this time.
Silent memories will keep
you near as time unfolds.
We cherish your gift of recognizing
the good in others and sharing
your sincere love with us.
Although no longer in our lives to share,
we hold you in our hearts forever more.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
