MARJORIE (MARGE) LORRAINE KELLY
Date of birth: August 26, 1929

Suddenly, yet on her own terms, with family at her side, Marge passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, October 29, 2019, at the age of 90.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mom had a great zest for life.
Mom was predeceased by parents, William "Bill" and Julia Rohead; her husband George Robert "Bob"; daughter Patricia "Patty"; and grandson Daniel.
Leaving to mourn are immediate family, son Chris Kelly (Donna), son Dave Kelly (Melissa), granddaughters, Megan and Sarah, daughter Kathy Lewis, grandchildren, Kelly and Kara, granddaughter Shannon Amos (Sean), great-grandchildren, Karly, Braden and Lindsay, grandson Jeff Bobrowski (Jenna), great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Sloan, along with other extended Kelly family.
Born in Moose Jaw, where she was raised, also living briefly in Prince Albert. Mom was working at General Electric in Regina in the mid 1950s, when she met her future husband Bob Kelly, and moved to Winnipeg. They built a home in Charleswood, where our family was raised. Many of the Willow Ridge crowd, some who are no longer with us, remained friends throughout Mom's life.
For many years, Mom worked in the electrical industry with Dad, until retiring due to Dad's ill health around 1991. After Dad's passing in 1992, Mom continued to travel extensively, loved Hawaii, did many cruises, many with her lifelong friend from Moose Jaw, Liz, also meeting and acquiring many friends along the way.
In her later years, Mom continued to be active with the Daughters of the Nile, Ladies Auxiliary, ladies golf and continued to bowl until recently. She would kick butt watching Jeopardy and loved watching sports, particularly tennis, curling, golf and the Bombers. A big shout out to her lunch bunch, and friends from 55 Nassau, and most recently The Parkway Retirement village.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave.

Rest in Peace.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Kathy and Dave, I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. I grew up on the same street as the Kelly's and Mr. and Mrs. Kelly's place was always a hub of activity! Your Mom was full of life and fun! She will be dearly missed by you both and her grandchildren! I am sorry that I will not be able to be at the service but will be thinking of you. So sorry for your loss. You will have lots of great memories of her though as I know I do! - Posted by: Jackie Bannatyne (Family Friend & Former Neighbour) on: Nov 12, 2019

  • I grew up in Charleswood and went to school with Dave and Kathy Kelly. However, I did not have the pleasure of getting to know their mother Marj until recently when myself and my husband (and business partner) Jon assisted Marj with the sale of her condo @ 55 Nassau. What a wonderful experience getting to know the witty, funny and always 'up for a visit' woman that Marj was! I know that Marj had many friends and kept a regular social calendar. She will most definitely be missed! Rest in Peace Marj. Our condolences to all of her family and friends who knew and loved her. - Posted by: Cheryl Thurston (Friend) on: Nov 11, 2019

  • I was so sorry to read of your Mom's passing. It sounds like she lived her life to the fullest right up to her passing, which is exactly what I would have expected from Marg. She was always so full of life and up beat - definitely a glass half-full personality. I'm sorry I will not be able to attend her service, but will thinking of you. Take comfort in remembering the many happy memories you must have. - Posted by: Bernice Heinrichs (former neighbour) on: Nov 09, 2019

  • Marg and I met when both our husbands were members of the Shrine Motor Patrol and I have very happy memories of her & that time. She had a warm and outgoing personality & made friends easily & was always up for a party or a bit of travel. The last time I saw Marg was when we were both at MTC last winter & she was obviously struggling with some health issues but was determined to keep up with her always active social life. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the service on Tuesday but my sincere condolences to the family - she will be missed. - Posted by: Donna Kagan (friend) on: Nov 02, 2019
