JAMES GORDON GRIST
Gord will be remembered by his loving wife, Rhonda, son, Glen (Kathy), daughter, Michelle (Jason), and in his words, "the world's smartest grandchildren": Blake, Lucas, Scott, Brooke, Will and Lauren; Gord's brother, Bob (Karen) and their children, Ryan and Hillary.
Gord attended Greenway Elementary, General Wolfe Junior High and Daniel Mac High School. He later attained Bachelor Degrees in Interior Design (1961) and Education (1966) and an R.R.C.C. Vocational Education Certificate.
Gord's kids and grandkids were a great source of pride to him. He marvelled at their talents and abilities and supported them always. His belief in God and attendance at Young United Church and Charleswood United Church helped carry him over a number of "bumps" on the road of life.
Our sincere thanks to the ICU staff at the Asper Cardiac Centre.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. on Friday, November 8, 2019, 2:00 p.m. If attending, please feel free to wear bright clothing.
In lieu of flowers, please forward donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (877-882-2582 or heartandstroke.ca).
Family and friends may sign a

Just to let you know, Rhonda and family, that my thoughts and empathy are with you. Even though I hardly knew Gord personally, I know he meant a great deal to Keith and so many other people! As a widow of seven years, I know that along with the sense of terrible loss, there may be gratitude for the ending of pain for the person you loved. Take time - and let friends help if needed. What an amazing man. He laughed and loved all of our family no matter how crazy it was ...I have so many precious memories of Gord. His dry sense of humor...the sideways glances..his great grin..that broke into a smile ...He was so kind during the many looses in my life ..always there to support with the wisest of words .. I'm a better person having him in my life ..my deepest prayers and love go out to all of you ...luv u Eileen 💓💓💓🙏🙏🙏 - Posted by: Eileen Carter (Cousin) on: Nov 07, 2019

Dear Rhonda and family. Shocked to read about Gord's passing in this morning Free Press. Could hardly believe it. Spoke to Gord last November. Nina has just been released from Deer Lodge Hospital and I ran into Gord accidentally in a medical supply store on Portage Ave. I re-introduced myself to him as he did not recognize me. We chatted a bit about the old days and about friends and acquaintances. When I returned home I told Nina I had met Gord and we had talked a bit about the old days. She was pleased to hear my story. At the time, I was unaware but have since learned that a very good mutual friend of Gord's and mine, Duncan, had passed-away on September 19, 2012. He was living on Salt Spring Island in B.C. at the time and Nina passed-away 6 months ago on May 15. So, our world is slowly crumbling. Hope Gord, Duncan and Nina can meet again in their new world. Look forward to seeing you and your family on Friday, Nov. 8. Deepest regards and so very sorry to hear of Gord's passing. Doug Hutton - Posted by: Doug Hutton (old friend) on: Nov 06, 2019
My heart is heavy for the loss of this sweet and loving man. He was such a joy to be around and I shall miss his “ bear” hugs! My thoughts and prayers are with Rhonda and his family in the days ahead as they struggle to cope with their loss. Gord has left a deep void in the lives of those who knew him. - Posted by: Coralie Bornais (Church/lake friend) on: Nov 06, 2019
