CHRISTOPHER ALLAN SYMAK
January 1, 1964 - November 15, 2019
Chris was born in Rivers, Manitoba and grew up there until he moved to Winnipeg in 1971 with Mike, Anita, and brother Michael. Growing up in Westwood, Chris made friends easily and many have remained lifelong friends. Chris graduated from Westwood Collegiate in 1981 and went on to attend the University of Manitoba studying Computer Science. From there, his IT career began and opened up a life of travel and adventure.
Chris married Gisele in 1997 and soon began to travel. Their first of four children, Dominic, was born in Germany, 1999. The growing family returned to Winnipeg, where their next son was born: Paul. Off they went soon after to Massachusetts where their first of two daughters were born: Brianne. Always on their toes, they took a step towards Oakville. Chantal was born there as the baby of the family, like her father. Finally, the bouncing family returned home to Winnipeg.
One of Chris' multitude of passions was sports, notably hockey and soccer, as player and coach. Music meant a great deal to Chris, too. From his Heretic days, he was a fervent hard rocker. He played guitar with a passion and loved to talk music with all of his friends. To add, Chris loved to cook and bake, and he always made more than he needed just in case someone came over.
Chris was many things: an intellectual buried in books, a geek clacking away on a computer, an athlete on ice and grass, a musician lost in rhythms, a butterfly in a vast garden of friends and family...
All this to say, Chris was Chris.
He was himself and no one else.
May he Rest In Peace.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in St. Charles Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles St., Winnipeg. Father Michael Wollbaum presiding.

Loved to sit with Chris and listen to his crazy rocking music at our house parties in those high school years. He always brought a great vibe to the room. To his brother Mike who played hockey together, to his wife and kids who I did not have the pleasure of knowing, accept my condolences and prayers to a friend who left a great impression for being a free spirit, a good friend and always living in the moment.
