ILSE SCHROEDER
August 30, 1929 December 4, 2019
She was predeceased by her mother Gertrude Lange; husband Henry (Heinz) Schroeder and brother Erwin Lange. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Rudolf); son Harold; grandchildren, Cameron (Laura), Megan, Warren (Jayne), Candice (Stephen) and great-grandchildren, Abigail, Blake, Daphne and Walker.
Ilse was born in Germany and immigrated in Canada in 1952. While raising her children, she taught sewing lessons in the evenings at the YWCA, as well as sewed clothes for private clients at her home. She was a great cook and baker. Ilse was an avid gardener, and many people stopped by to enjoy her lovely gardens. Ilse loved her time at the cottage and spent spring to fall there for many years, gardening and enjoying nature. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Chef de Cuisine for 40 years and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Bethania Personal Care Home. Ilse loved to travel and visited many places in the world, but her favourite place was Puerto Vallarta. Ilse struggled with dementia during her last 15 years.
We would like to thank the staff at Dakota House, Harmony Court and River Park Gardens for the care and compassion they showed towards her and our family.
A private family memorial service has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Winnipeg Humane Society, 43 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3 or a charity of one's choice.
