JILL DENISE SENCHUK
1944 - 2019
Jill passed away peacefully December 5, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Jill was predeceased by her Welsh parents, Melville and Muriel Walters. She is survived by her husband Donald; sons, David (Jen), Derek (Sarah), Keith (Tracy); and daughter Shannon (Glenn Constable); and stepson Michael. She doted on her grandchildren Nathaniel, Jacob, Riley, Justin, Katelyn and Evelyn.
Jill was born May 26, 1944 in London and emigrated from Wales to Canada in 1952. She graduated from Glenlawn Collegiate and then married Richard Riel in 1965. She was a first and foremost a mother to her four children, working a variety of jobs before working full-time in property management until her retirement.
Life changed for two people when Don met Jill at the Canoe Club in 1990. The next 29 years were a match made in heaven. The winter vacations included Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Europe, Central America and the unforgettable trips to visit her father in Wales. In the summer, Jill and Don enjoyed the cottage on Lake of the Woods.
Jill was so proud of her Welsh heritage and was the matriarch of the family. She was the consummate hostess to all guests who were treated to her Yorkshire Pudding and huge, Welsh cabbage rolls. Jill enjoyed fishing, her flowers and ornamental lights. She enjoyed her glass of white wine, a few VLT's with her very close friend Giselle Morin, and adored the opera and classical music. Jill was never without a book in hand, she loved her mysteries and suspense.
Jill and I shared everything together, which included decisions, adventures, adversities and the outcome was always positive. Were the outcomes favourable because we were both geniuses? This relationship worked because we were made for each other. For years I called you ''Coach'' because I depended on you for almost everything. I know you'll be waiting for me up there. I'll buy you a glass of wine and we'll shuck and jive to "Old Time Rock and Roll". This time we won't stop. I love you Coach.
A celebration of Jill's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2019, at Desjardins Funeral Home, 357 DesMeurons Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba at Health Sciences Centre, where Jill received compassionate care.

It is hard to imagine you are gone, Jill. What will I do without your unique and funny take on things, without your advice on which books I should read next, without the lively updated stories about your beloved grandkids, without hearing about your trips to the Riviera Maya resorts, without your tales from the lake or your details about getting ready for Christmas? You are leaving a big hole in the lives of the many people who loved you, but you are also leaving us with many fond memories of a very special lady who loved fiercely and who lived exactly the life she preferred. You will be missed terribly, dear friend, but never forgotten. - Posted by: Linda White (Muckle) (long-time long-distance friend from our days at GCI) on: Dec 07, 2019
I am so sorry to read of your spouse's passing, Don. I saw the happiness in your face when you and your beloved came to Pierre Radisson functions, and you are correct... this was a match made in heaven. Your ready smile and genuine tenderness whenever your wife's name was mentioned in staffroom talk was noticeable and admirable. She was a lucky lady to have found you, as you were fortunate to have such a true love in your life. Again, my condolences. - Posted by: Sheilah Land (friend) on: Dec 07, 2019
