PIERRE RIVARD

Peacefully, with his family by his side, at Red River Place in Selkirk, MB, on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, Pierre Rivard, aged 80 years, beloved husband of Mary, passed away.
Youngest of 10 children, Pierre lost his mom at the age of seven. It wasn't the material things in life that were important to him, it was his family. He is survived by his loving wife Mary of 58 years; son Darren; daughter Therese (his Teteun) (Denis); grandchildren, Justin (Samantha), Nicholas, Ryan, Nicole, Michelle and Chad; and great-grandchildren, Liam and Landon. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his family from back home in Quebec, as well as his family in Manitoba and Alberta.
Pierre was a proud Canadian and he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force for 24 years, after his retirement from the Air Force, he began his second career at the Manitoba Centennial Concert Hall as a power engineer, finally fully retiring in 1999. Pierre was also very active in sports, he played hockey for many years and he coached his son Darren in hockey and soccer as well. He was an avid swimmer, enjoyed boating and fishing, family trips, doing puzzles and playing cards, especially crib and his greatest love was camping. He was gentle, had a happy demeanour, was very friendly and known for his contagious smile.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Rick and Dr. Brian Lindenschmidt, and all the wonderful staff at Red River Place. Thank you so much for being so kind to Pierre, you became like family and we will cherish your friendship forever. We also want to make a special thank you to auntie Bea and uncle Ron for their love and support. Also to Gilbart Funeral Home for the assistance during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place in the St. Clement's Columbarium.
