PANAGIOTIS (PETER) MIKOS

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, Peter Mikos, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Mary; son Steve (Trish); daughters, Janice (Pano) and Demetra (Nick); and grandchildren, Annamaria (Justin), Maria (Shaun), Katina, Giorgo, Stephanie, Spiro and Lexi.
Pete was born to Stefanos and Giannoula in Lagadia, Arcadia, Greece on August 16, 1931. From humble beginnings, he yearned for a brighter future. Pete moved to Canada and wed Mary on November 30, 1957. Together they worked hard to sponsor his older brothers and their families to join them. Pete was a skilled mason who enjoyed his career, but enjoyed his long retirement more. He cherished travelling abroad with his wife in the winters but valued more than anything time spent with his beloved family. His endless love for his adoring grandchildren was unmatched. Pete was a long-standing member of the Greek Community of Winnipeg. He will be missed at church in his usual pew where he always had a pocket full of candies to share. Pete will be remembered as a good man with an incredibly open heart. He brought joy to everyone, was loved by all and words cannot express how profoundly his kind spirit will be missed.
The family would like to thank to Dr. Russell Albak and Roseanne for many decades of care. Thank you as well to the incredible staff at St. Boniface Hospital.
Prayers will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 7:00 p.m., at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Avenue. The funeral will be held at the same location on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., followed by the interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.

We will always treasure
the years we had together.
We love you so much.
Memory Eternal.
As Pete would say …"BE GOOD."
