LUCIE MARIE GILCHUK
(GAUTHIER)
September 14, 1926 - December 16, 2019
She was predeceased by her loving husband Harry Gilchuk; parents, Virginie and Simon Gauthier; brothers, Vianney, Clifford, Andrew and stepson William Ford.
Lucie is lovingly remembered by her children, Yvonne (Ed) Liwyj, Diana (Nick) Rehaluk, Raymond Ford, Lynda (Al) Broderick, Penny (Glen) Hunter, Larry (Goret) Gilchuk, Janet (Karen) Gilchuk; stepsons, Gerald (Audrey) Penner, Paul Penner; grandchildren, Sharon, Richard, Jennifer, Wendy, Landon, Cody, Taylor, Kennedy; great-grandchildren and sister Agathe Broesky.
Lucie was born and raised in Giroux, Manitoba. She was first married to Phillias Gauthier and had two daughters, Yvonne and Diana. Lucie then met and married Harry Gilchuk. They settled in East Kildonan and together they would raise all their children, Yvonne, Diana, William, Raymond, Lynda, Penny, Larry and Janet.
In early married life, Lucie worked from home as a seamstress. Later and up until her retirement, she was employed as an evening custodian for the River East Transcona School Division.
Lucie had a love for animals, especially her dogs and the great outdoors. Many summers were spent camping. Lucie spent holidays, special events, birthdays and anniversaries with her children by her side. She was a proud mother and grandmother of her loving and caring children.
Lucie spent the last five and a half years at Luther Personal Care Home. Thank you to all who made her stay a comfortable and happy one!
Cremation has taken place and the family will have a private service in her honour at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Lynda, I am so sorry for the death of your Mom, especially during this time of year. Your Mom raised one of the most wonderful people I know.
