ANGELO ANDREOSSO
September 5, 1937 - December 13, 2019

Angelo was born in Fossalta di Portogruaro in the province of Venice, Italy to parents, Oreste and Alma (Castaldi) Andreosso.
Angelo will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Shirley and their children, Mark, Michael (April) and Lyn (Matthew). "Pa" will be loving remembered by grandchildren, Mackenzie, Katie, Jackson, Daniel and David. Angelo was predeceased by his siblings, Teresina (Remo), Renato (Adalgisa), Luiga (Giuliano) and Maria (Angelo) and leaves behind his sister Renata (Giordano) in Luxembourg. Angelo will also be missed by brothers-in-law, Garnet (Ginger) and Don in Kenora, daughters-in-law, Lori and Holly and numerous relative and friends throughout Italy, Luxembourg and Canada.
Angelo arrived in Canada from Italy in 1957 with a cardboard suitcase in hand, a few dollars in his pocket and unable to speak English. A stonemason by trade, Angelo went on to own a successful masonry company and will be remembered by many in the business for his honesty, integrity and his commitment to getting the job done to his own high standards. Angelo was a hardworking man who took great pride in every project. As a result, there are many beautiful buildings, schools, churches and museums throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan that stand as part of his legacy. Angelo also worked on the monuments at the Forks and he was proud to help lead the team that took down a badly tarnished Golden Boy and returned him to his perch on the Manitoba Legislature, bright and glowing.
Work was very important to Angelo, but it was La Famiglia that was his source of pride. He loved his children and adored his wife. Their marriage was a real partnership, in love and business. To see Angelo and Shirley dance was a real lesson in tenderness and cooperation. Together they made a life filled with the warmth of a comfortable home and the adventure of family holidays all over Canada, the United States and Europe. Angelo's generosity knew no bounds and he made sure his family never wanted for anything.
Angelo enjoyed renovating and improving his homes over the years, but his greatest pride was building and taking care of the family home at "The Lake" on Hillside Point. After he would tirelessly mow the lawn to a greens keeper's standard, many wonderful gatherings were enjoyed there, time spent with family and special friends. Rounds of bocce, food for an army and always, Angelo's pure tenor voice leading us in song. Angelo was the perfect host and there was never an empty wine glass in sight. While it was rare for him to take a break, when he did, Angelo loved to play golf and cribbage, and work on his sculpting. He had real artistic talent, evident in the woodcarvings and bowls that found their way into our family's homes.
The mighty Angelo. We will miss you and your big heart full of love. We will miss your beautiful voice, and we will miss your jaunty whistling as you worked to do your absolute best by your family, every day of your life. Rest in peace with your faithful friend Loopy.
Shirley, Lyn and the rest of the family would like to thank Sandra, Peto, Byng, Kathy, Laurel, Laurel Lee, Garth, Lexi, Denise and the other wonderful care providers at West Park Manor. We are grateful for the compassion and comfort they provided for Angelo and for us over this past year.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or Parkinson Canada.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • My deepest condolences to all who knew and loved Mr. Andreosso. It's an understatement to say he was larger than life. He was always a gentleman when I saw him and always had a unique and funny observation on the goings on of the day. There is a special understanding that kids of immigrants have with other immigrants and so I always felt a kinship with Mr. Andreosso, my parents likewise having arrived with neither money nor English. I'm grateful and proud to have known him and to count many in his family as friends. My best to all who knew him. - Posted by: Will Kurtz (Friend) on: Dec 28, 2019

  • I was so sorry to see of Angelo's passing. He was held in high regard by all of the Courteau clan. Angelo was a person who would leave you upbeat and positive, no matter what was happening. A man with a great sense of humor and a terrific smile. He built a BBQ stand for my parents (Paul & Rolande Courteau) many years ago. It was something they enjoyed and used extensively at the lake. It was built to be functional and a thing of beauty as well. My condolences to Shirley and all of Angelo's family, he will be sadly missed. • I'm the Facility Manager of the Legislative Building and as soon as I met Angelo we were instantly friends. He had a dedication to his Trade, the best smile ever and the respect of everyone he came in contact with. Our Golden Boy Restoration was a success because of skilled Tradesmen and Angelo led us. Rest well my friend. - Posted by: Todd Miclash (Friend) on: Dec 22, 2019

  • Sending condolences to the Andreosso family; so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Stacy Diamond (Old friend) on: Dec 21, 2019

  • Angelo(I would call him Mr. Andreosso and he would correct me) went on a holiday with family to Hawaii one year and he and Mark were thoughtful enough to bring home the jaws of a small shark for me. It has followed me to many homes and sits in our rec room today. A very gracious man! My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Warren Barker (Marks hockey coach) on: Dec 21, 2019
