EMILIO PERRELLI
November 28, 1931 - December 18, 2019
Emilio was born in Torano, Castello, Italy on November 28, 1931. At a young age he began his mentorship tailoring and with his determination, he soon mastered the skill to become a master tailor. He soon opened his own shop in his home town. It was several years later he would meet and marry the love of his life, Assunta. They soon started a family in Italy which brought them six kids, three boys and three girls another boy came once they moved to Canada.
Emilio followed his brother and immigrated in 1968 to set down roots in Winnipeg and sent for his family one year later. Upon arriving in Winnipeg, Emilio landed a tailor job at Ralph Cantafio's Tailor shop. Ralph's would be the shop where Dad cut, measured and pinned and pressed high quality suits for over 30 years. He would go onto make suits for some of Winnipeg's elite businessmen. He was very proud of his work. But what really made him happy was making the many suits and alterations for his family and friends.
Emilio was a very honourable and respected man that got along with everyone and was often the life of the party singing and dancing. His presence was infectious and people were drawn to him as he was a very funny and caring man, always thinking of others before himself. What he enjoyed most was spending quality time with family and the many friends he gained over the years. He really enjoyed spending time outside under his grape trellis entertaining friends over a glass of his homemade wine. There was never a dull moment and everyone left happy as there was always plenty of food and wine to be shared along with good stories. Dad and Mom enjoyed travelling back to Italy numerous times to visit their families. Dad also enjoyed sports, mainly soccer and especially the Jets and football. He also liked his Italian programs from back home.
Emilio leaves to mourn his loving wife, Assunta and brother Aldo; his six children, Rosemary, Sandra (Mario) Falvo, Gio (Lois) Perrelli, Orazio, Sonia (Ray) Duma and Micheal (Michelle) Perrelli. Emilio also leaves behind six grandchildren, Mina (Guilio), Vito (Monica), Alder (Cathy), Alyssa, Riley and Julianna. He also leaves behind six great-grandchildren, Alexia, Taya, Gia, Paolo, Sophia and Adriano as well as numerous family in Italy. He was predeceased by his son, Giuseppe (Joe).
The Family would like to thank the Grace Hospital and Victoria Hospital, especially the fourth floor unit at the Victoria for their compassionate care.
Condolences will take place at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue on Saturday, December 28, 2019. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m.; interment at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue and reception at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
