Dear Jan ,Joy,Carla and Barb , I am saddened to learn of your Mom's passing . I still remember her and Harvey laughing it up in your kitchen in Silver Heights , and her patiently but firmly refereeing you four girls .One summer when I was invited to Gimli , Hazel had sewn me a bikini to match that of Jan and Joy's . We thought we were cool . Your Mom was always so nice me . My sympathies , Susan - Posted by: Susan Tanaka ( Nedelec) (Long ago friend ) on: Jan 20, 2020

Jan, Joy, Carla, Barbara and families -- thinking of you at this difficult time. Your Mom was always so kind to me back in the seventies when Joy and Jan would invite me to join the family for some meals and together time. As a young girl from Riverton living alone in Winnipeg, your home was always so welcoming and comfortable. I know you will miss your Mom lots but you will always have the wonderful memories of your Mom and Dad - now together again. Sending love, Colleen - Posted by: Colleen Olafson (Friend of Joy & Jan) on: Dec 28, 2019

Hazel Paton was a friend from the old days at Southwood Golf Course. An avid golfer who often formed a threesome with Florence Albi and Helen Wainwright. She had a remarkable story about having survived a rather experimental and serious type of cardiovascular surgery in San Diego, years ago, when she might have been 75 or more. Her surgeon called her back one day here in Canada, probably wondering how she was doing a few years after that surgery. She replied: ”I’m doing well. I’ve just come off the course after 18 holes.” We all had a laugh at this, and she made that surgeon proud, I bet. She had a lot of spunk, and we women in the women's group of old Southwood Golf and Country Club on Markham and University Crescent sure had a lot of fun with Hazel. RIP Hazel, and my condolences to her family. I hope there is a course in heaven and that you Hazel, and Helen and Flo are having a good game together like in the old days. ...Cathie Lee - Posted by: Catherine Lee (Friend ) on: Dec 25, 2019

Sorry to read about the passing of your Mom. I was a friend when your family lived on Montgomery. (Maureen Ball) Hazel was kind enough to come to a bridal shower for me held by Montgomery neighbors in 1972. We live in west Kelowna, BC now. I have one daughter Jill and a son Kevin, and 2 grandchildren. They all live in Calgary. This Christmas will be different for all of you. Take care. - Posted by: Maureen Snyder (Friend and neighbor) on: Dec 25, 2019

So sorry to hear this sad news. Can’t believe less than two weeks ago she was singing Christmas carols in Chad’s bar at Deer Lodge Centre with Joy. She was an incredible lady. With sincere sympathy, Glenda MacDonald and Warren Bergner - Posted by: Glenda MacDonald (Friend) on: Dec 21, 2019

My sister Louise sent this to me and I just wanted to express my condolences for the passing of your mom. I remember her well as the nice neighbor next door who always let us play Monopoly to all hours of the night in your family room above the garage. I remember all you girls and haven't seen for years but always have a fond memory of our dear neighbors. My thoughts are with you and I know its a difficult time of year for your loss. Sincerely Judy - Posted by: Judy Millen (Johnston) (Neighbor) on: Dec 21, 2019
